Chemical Engineering, May 2003, McNeese State University Ph.D. Marine Chemistry, November 2006, University of Miami-RSMAS Advisor Dr. Dennis A. Hansell Dissertation Title: Cycle and Fate of Carbon as Part of the Western Arctic Shelf Basin Interactions Project PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) University of Alaska Fairbanks, 09/07 Present Postdoctoral Scientist University of Miami. Physical Chemistry Lab, 12/06 8/07. Research Assistant University of Miami. Biogeochemistry Lab, 06/03 11/06. Chemical Engineer Intern - CITGO Petroleum, Lake Charles, LA, 05/00 09/02 RESEARCH INTERESTS The main focus of my research is the distribution, transformations and fate of carbon in the marine environment. I have several funded projects in the Arctic Ocean, Bering Sea, and the Gulf of Alaska studying the impacts that physical and biogeochemical processes such as ocean acidification and sea ice loss have on the marine carbon cycle. I am currently leading the North American Carbon Program subgroup for the Arctic Ocean and the Bering Sea. Peer-Reviewed Publications 1. Mathis, J.T., Hansell, D.A., Bates, N.R.
