Our Christmas tree is covered in fantastic school-made ornaments! EIS MOSCOW SOUTH WEST 8thDecember 2017 Dear Parents, This week has been all about rehearsals at EIS South West. With our EYFS and KS1 children practising their lines and making sure the right animals come on stage at the right time, Y3,4 and 5 memorizing poems and fine tuning their rapping styles and Y6,7,8,9 and 10 making sure they are in full voice for Wednesday s performance. Thank you to everyone who has requested tickets so far and made kind donations to our nominated charities. Make you sure you pick some up in advance, so that you can bring along everyone who wants to come to see the concert. Meanwhile, decorations have been going up everywhere and the Christmas spirit has taken over the whole school. Ho Ho Ho! Kindest Regards, Mr. Paul Wade E N G L I S H I N T E R N A T I O N A L S C H O O L, M O S C O W SWOEUS T H-W E S T

E I S M O S C O W S O U T H W E S T School Expectation for Pupils and Students: Daily routines: Children should all enter via the double gates, unless they are late for school. Children arrive at school 08:15-08:30 (PE buses leave at 08:45 so it is important to be on time) Registration: 08:45 Home time: 15:15-15:30 (15:00-15:15 on Friday s so you can dodge the weekend traffic) What students need to bring: Water bottle (we have asked for these to ensure that children have access to water more easily and to try to be more environmentally friendly - they are not compulsory) Indoor shoes (to keep out learning environment clean and allow smaller children to sit on the floor without getting dirty) Pencil case (Y3-10) (this is useful to keep all equipment together and is not compulsory) sports kit (which can stay I school until it needs to be washed) They also need to bring their communication book EVERY DAY (Y1-10), unless you have signed up to Class Dojo. Please sign the communication book so that we know you have seen your child s homework Uniform & PE kit: Primary School jumper, smart trousers/skirt/shorts, school polo shirt, school fleece (optional), dark coloured or white tights/ socks. (new uniform will finally be in stock on Monday!) Secondary We will be launching a consultation, soon, on a more grown up school uniform. For the time being we would like secondary pupils to wear the smartest possible version of the primary uniform, with smart shoes and, where possible, a shirt or blouse rather than t-shirt. PE kit for all pupils should include: Separate sports shirt, short, trousers, shoes and outdoor trainers. Green and white is preferred, but this is up to you. Jewellery should be kept to a minimum, with no dangling ear rings or necklaces. Any rings should be removed before PE or art lessons. Fidget spinners should stay in pockets / cloakrooms during lessons, or ideally at home. E N G L I S H I N T E R N A T I O N A L S C H O O L, M O S C O W W S O E U S T H-W E S T

Early Years It was all about the baubles this week in EYFS, as children fashioned their own versions of glittering Christmas globes how lovely! E N G L I S H I N T E R N A T I O N A L S C H O O L, M O S C O W S O U T H-W E S T

Year 1 and 2 We have been very busy rehearsing for the Christmas performance. The children did some creative writing about what it would be like to live in a snow globe which you can see dis- E N G L I S H I N T E R N A T I O N A L S C H O O L, M O S C O W S O U T H-W E S T

Year 3/4 Another brilliant English lesson from Y3/4 this week. This time they were working on specially assigned tasks, coming up with extended sentences, using conjunctions such as therefore, however and consequently. Smart kids! Year 5 In Topics, the class were learning how to combine their shading techniques with using water paint techniques. Science: the children were observing/understanding how a simple machine works. By using a catapult (slingshot) they could see that by applying a force in one direction can produce a movement in another. Year 6 The great "make a tree competition". Even with the digital cheating, I knew which the students would vote for... Yes, Miss Kate's tree cake and gingerbread forest won the prize Seojin looks the proudest of his tree decoration. Well done. E N G L I S H I N T E R N A T I O N A L S C H O O L, M O S C O W S O U T H-W E S T
