www.horusvision.com TM FIELD GUIDE FOR HORUS SCOPES Your Horus scope combines fine-quality optics, combat-proven hardware and the patented Horus reticle to deliver speed and accuracy for all shooters. The Horus reticle replaces traditional mil dots with a unique grid that eliminates manual knob turning for wind and elevation adjustments. If you are new to the Horus reticle or would like detailed instructions to take full advantage of the Horus reticle design, download a full User s Manual for your specific scope at www.horusvision.com/manuals.php. This Field Guide includes quick start instructions for set-up, basic operation and proper care of all Horus scopes. Contact Horus Vision Horus Vision P.O. Section 1: Mounting Your Scope Consult your trusted gunsmith for personal attention and custom mounting. Step 1 - Mount the bottom half of the rings to the rifle s mounting rail, making sure that the spacing is correct so the rings won t interfere with the scope s turrets. Step 2 - Place the scope on to the bottom rings, positioning it far enough from your eye to provide a clear field of view (FOV). Step 3 - Attach the top portion of the ring tightening the screws enough to prevent the scope from falling out of the mounts but loose enough to enable you to adjust. Step 4 - Focus the ocular by adjusting the rear-most ring on the eyepiece. The reticle should be crisp against a distant object or bright surface. The diopter is adjustable to +/- -2, +1 so the scope can be used with or without corrective lenses. Step 5 - Establish proper eye relief by sliding the scope to the front or rear until you see an image without any black or hazy outer ring (vignette effect) within the FOV. Step 6 - Before tightening the top rings, place a spirit level on the uncapped elevation turret to check level against the rifle s receiver. Use the best horizontal surface you can find on the rifle. Minor level errors will affect use of reticle grid and knob adjustments with farther targets. Step 7 - When satisfied with eye relief and reticle level, tighten the scope ring screws to 15-20 inch-pounds of pressure. Over-tightening can damage the scope tube.

Section 2: Zeroing Your Scope The following recommended method of zeroing will eliminate problems while saving time and ammunition: Step 1 - Measure the distance from the rifle to the target to ensure a precise zero measurement, ideally 100 meters. Step 3 - Set your scope power ring to maximum power. Step 4 - Looking through your scope, center the Horus reticle over your intended point of impact (POI) and fire. Repeat this twice to get a group of three shots. Step 5 - Inspect your target and draw a triangle to find the average POI. Measure from the average point of impact to the bulls eye. Step 6 - Adjust windage and elevation knobs to make the necessary adjustments. You can also use the Horus reticle s mil-based grid to measure your deviation from the intended POI, then dial the exact corrections (in 0.1 mil increments) using the knobs to reach zero. For example, if your first shot impacts 2 mils low and 1.5 mils right, dial 2 mils (20 clicks) up and 1.5 mils (15 clicks) left. Repeat steps 3-5 until you hit your intended POI. Step 7 - Tighten the turret covers on the elevation and windage knobs. From this point on, use the gridlines on the reticle - not the knobs - to make adjustments for wind and elevation.

Section 3: Using the Horus Reticle Targeting Grid Rather than traditional crosshairs with mil dots, Horus reticles feature a unique grid design that is tailored to the specific use of each scope. The Horus reticle has wind and elevation hold markings built into the grid. With a traditional mil-dot reticle, you must adjust knobs to account for wind and elevation compensation. With a Horus reticle, simply hold on the appropriate point within the grid and shoot. For further instruction on using the Horus reticle targeting grid, refer to the full User s Manual for your scope at: www.horusvision.com/manuals.php. Horus ATragMX Ballistics Software provides the most accurate aiming solutions for use with your Horus reticle. Section 4: Battery Replacement For Horus scopes without an illuminated reticle or rheostat knob, batteries are not required. For Horus scopes with an illuminated reticle and rheostat knob, the CR2032 battery in you scope can be changed as follows: Step 1 - Hold the lower, knurled portion of the rheostat knob in place with one hand and unscrew (counter-clockwise) the cap with the other hand. Step 2 - Use a fingernail or small, flat screwdriver to carefully remove the old battery. Step 3 - Replace the battery with a fresh CR2032 with the (+) side up, so that it is flush in the knob. Step 4 - Replace the threaded portion of the knob by screwing it on (clockwise).

Section 5: General Care Your Horus scope requires very little maintenance. The following simple steps will ensure maximum optical performance: Wipe clean all exposed optical surfaces occasionally with the lens cloth provided. Maintain metal surfaces by removing any dirt, dust or sand with a soft brush to avoid scratching the finish; then wipe down with a damp cloth, followed by a dry cloth. For best luster and corrosion resistance, finish by wiping metal surfaces with a silicone cloth. Protect your scope with lens caps and turret covers when not in use. For scopes with an illuminated reticle or rheostat knob, turn rheostat to 'off' when not in use to preserve battery.
