CURRENT EVENT REPORT Article Citation: Use correct MLA format to cite your article. Duncan, Ginny. Eastgate Homes Closing Its Doors. Middlebrook Daily Gazette 10 November 20XX: B1. Main Idea: Write one complete sentence that describes the main idea of the article. Eastgate Homes and Retirement Community is closing its doors on January 1 due to bankruptcy. Support: Using complete sentences, write a paragraph that supports the main idea. Be sure to include names and facts that are important to this current event. Eastgate Homes and Retirement Community has been in financial trouble for several years. After borrowing over a million dollars in loans, the company is finally declaring bankruptcy. The CEO, William Moyer, announced his decision on Wednesday afternoon. Eastgate Homes and Retirement Community did not meet federal health regulations during last month s inspection. Instead of investing more money into the failing facility, Moyer decided it was best to close the doors for good. Future: Using complete sentences, write a paragraph explaining how this current event may affect the health care industry, either locally, nationally, or internationally. The closing of Eastgate Homes will leave 135 residents without a home and 68 health care workers without employment or severance pay. In his announcement, William Moyer promised to do his best to assist both residence and employees in finding new facilities. However, many residents are skeptical. Most retirement communities have a lengthy waiting list for admittance. Residents fear that they will be forced to move far away from family and friends. Copyright 2006 Applied Educational Systems
