5 Downloading and the Changes to Geomap in Version 1.9.10.0 Geomap was upgraded to Vs 1.9.10.0 in May 2014 this is a brief help document on downloading it and updating your version with a view of the changes made Main Changes Enables downloading.kml (Google Earth files) and showing the details in Google Earth Enables Downloading of.txt files Enable print of data searched for in the Identify or Find Features queries 1 Where to Obtain and Download the new Geomap Software Here is the link to the page to download the software from the Department of Mines, make sure you download the correct version for your PC which will be either 64 bit or 32 bit. http://geodownloads.dmp.wa.gov.au/datacentre/datacentredb.asp 2 32 bit or 64 bit Windows Computer?
6 If you have an older computer it may be 32 bit and how you can tell is to look a the computer properties Here is how I find my system type for my Windows 7 PC Step 1 is to click on the Window Icon at the bottom left your screen, then click on Computer
7 Step 2 is to click on System Properties Step 3 is to read the system type and if there is nothing here on the system type it is probably 32 bit.
8 3 Download the Required Version to Your PC Here is how to do it Using Internet Explorer 1. Select Your required version 32 bit or 64 bit 2 Click on Download for the required version 3. Accept the Licence conditions 4. Click on Save as and browse to a folder that you will remember later so you can find the zipped files!!! 4 How to Unzip or EXTRACT the Downloaded Geomap File
9 Step 1 Select the Geomap Zipped Program files appropriate for your Windows PC That is GeoMap.WA_1.9.9_x64.zip for 64 Bit Computers or That is GeoMap.WA_1.9.9_x86.zip for 32 bit computers you would have downloaded the appropriate file when you downloaded the program from DMP Data and Software Centre 5 Extract the Zipped Geomap Files that you have Downloaded 6 Extracting the Geomap Files and starting the Geomap Wizard to Load the Geomap Program I have included a copy of the Readme file for your information
10 To start the Geomap Program Wizard left click on Setup_x64.exe (If your pc is a 64 bit Computer) 7 Follow the Geomap Wizard
11 You will need to sign I agree to the licence and check to see if your Windows Installer is waiting for you to Allow the installation before it will install. 8 After Extraction Open Geomap and Check for the Version
12 9 Changes to Geomap in Version 1.9.10.0 Main Changes 1.Enables downloading.kml (Google Earth files) and showing the details or you selections i (Identify) tool or Binoculars (Find Features) tool in Google Earth 2.Enables Downloading of.txt files of our selections 3.Enable print of data searched for in the Identify or Find Features queries
13 10 Export to.kml Google Earth Here I have made a selection of a number of mines in Geomap and exported to a.kml File which I called 20140414NewGeomapExportGoogle.kml 11 Here are The Opened.kml File of Mines in Google Earth By Clicking on the.kml file it has opened up in Google Earth (note you need the free Google Earth program on your PC to do this!)
