Shrine Catholic High School Required Summer Math Quiz Designed for Students entering Algebra & Honors Algebra
Dear Parents and Students: Summer work, such as math packets and novel reading, can be useful in achieving grade-level master and bridging the gap between school ears. In addition, we believe that an assigned summer work should be appropriate and purposeful. Math Department Summer Work Epectations Students Entering Calculus or AP Calculus: All students registered for Calculus or AP Calculus are REQUIRED to complete the math packet. Summer math packets will be distributed to the students in June along with a graph-ruled notebook ($.00) for completing the problem sets. Packets will also be available for reprinting online at www.shrineschools.com. Completed packets/notebooks are due on the first full da of classes, Thursda, August 5 th. Students Entering all other Mathematics Classes: All students are REQUIRED to complete the Master Quiz for the class for which the are registered in the Fall Semester. The Master Quiz is available for printing online at www.shrineschools.com under the For High School Students drop down menu. The quiz should be completed with all work shown and without the aid of a graphing calculator for graphing problems. For students who eperience difficult with an portion of the Master Quiz, we recommend accessing the (optional) Summer Math Packet for their respective fall math course and the variet of resources contained therein, including practice problems and video links for the various topics. Completed Master Quizzes are due on the first full da of classes, Thursda, August 5 th. ALL math students will take a Master Quiz when school begins, similar to the required Master Quiz, in order to ensure readiness for their new math class. Students whose performance on this quiz does not show master of previous grade-level content ma be required to attend math help sessions outside of class time and re-take the quiz until master is achieved. Thank ou for our continued support and have a great summer! Math Department Shrine Catholic Academ and High School
