Professional accomplishments Courses offered Dynamic Meteorology (Theory) Meteorological Computations (Practical) Contribution as a teacher As a teacher, I used to take classes on atmospheric thermodynamics theory and tephigram analysis practical. This motivated me to develop Fortran codes for evaluating thermodynamic parameters and incorporated as modules for the practical class. I used to discuss numerical problems in dynamic meteorology and physical meteorology in the classes for imparting thorough concept. This motivated me to solve all numerical problems in Holton and Nielsen books and made an archive of solved numerical 1
problems in meteorology. In addition, I used to arrange discussion session on monsoon features such as northward propagation of monsoon organized convection, active-break cycles, characteristics of low level jet stream etc. using NOAA OLR, NCEP winds and GPI / TRMM rainfall based on Grads script files. These are used for imparting training on different aspects of monsoon system. Experience in Computer application Compilers:Fortran95 and MATLAB, Operating Systems: MS WINDOWS, LINUX/UNIX and Packages: GrADS, Ferret, Microcal Origin, MS Office, etc. Experience in handling satellite data through internet such as quikscat, TMI, TRMM, GPCP, etc., gridded data sets like NCEP/NCAR, ECMWF, NOAA OLR, etc. and Rainfall data (gridded and station data sets). Research Topic : Monsoon boundary layer characteristics Experience in maintaining tower based instrumentation (Automatic Weather Station), data analysis based on tower based AWS and Lower Atmospheric Wind Profiler, ADP (Atmospheric Data Processor): MST and LAWP data processing software, satellite data such as quikscat, TMI, etc., in handling gridded data sets like NCEP/NCAR, ECMWF, TRMM RR, NOAA & IITM OLR, etc. and Rainfall data (gridded and station data sets). Delivered two lecturers as a Resource Person on 27 September, 2013 in the Training Programme to the Meteorological Officers of Indian Navy organised by the SNOM, Indian Navy, Cochin during 9 September 2013 to 03 October 2013 on the topic : Characteristics of Monsoon Organised Convections and Active-Break Cycles of Indian Summer Monsoon. Participated in the Brain Storming Workshop on Mud Banks of Kerala : The known and the unknown organised by the NIO, RC, Cochin during 20-21 January, 2014. Delivered a talk on Meteorological applications of UHF Radar on 10 March, 2014 in the SERB School organised in the Cochin University of Science and Technology. Took classes as a Resource Person in the training programme organised by the SNOM, Indian Navy, Cochin for foreign officers on Oceanography and Air Sea Interaction during 10 March to 4 April, 2014 on Air-Sea Interaction Processes with special reference to Indian coasts. Participated in the Live phone question-answer programme of AIR, Kochi for 1 hour on 14 May, 2014 to clarify the doubts of common people on Lightning Protection. Took a class on Characteristics of Indian summer monsoon in view of climate change in the Advanced Training Programme organised for Agricultural Officers on 20 May, 2014. Served as an adviser and selection committee member constituted by the UPSC for holding the interview in connection with the recruitment of Meteorologist Grade II to the India Meteorological Department during 26 to 30 May, 2014. Participated in the Word Environmental Day celebrations of SNOM, Indian Navy, Cochin organized on 5 June, 2014 and took a class on Global Warming. Served as an expert by setting QP for Screening Test and the Interview Board member for Campus Interview of SKYMET, Noida for recruiting Meteorologist from M.Sc Meteorology degree holders of CUSAT in June, 2014. Served as an Editorial Board Member for judging papers for presentation in the National Symposium, METOC-2014 organised by the SNOM, Indian Navy, Kochi during 30-31 October, 2014. Took classes on Air-Sea Interaction Process on 5, 7, 12 and 14 November, 2014 for an advanced training programme organised by the SNOM, Indian Navy, Cochin to its officers.
