TEST FOR CHROMIUM (VI) CONTENT Weigh sample in an Erlenmeyer flask Add digestion solution and heating at hot plate Adjust the ph of the solution to 7.5±0.5 and transfer the solution to a volumetric flask Adjust the ph of the solution to 2.0±0.5 and make up with deionized water Add diphenylcarbazide solution Make up with deionized water Analyze the mixture by using UV-Vis spectrophotometer with wavelength set at 540 nm PAGE 6 OF 8

TEST FOR CHROMIUM (VI) CONTENT (BOILING WATER EXTRACTION ON METAL) Prepare the test solution and a sample with about 50cm 2 surface area Heat 50mL of DI water in a beaker to boiling and totally immerse the sample inside the beaker. Leach for 10 minutes while the water continues to boil Add the test solution to beaker, a red color indicates the presence of Cr(VI) If absorbance value greater than standard solution, the sample is considered to have a hexavalent chromium coating. If not, the test result is negative If the color developed is difficult to judge, could use UV-Vis spectrophotometer with wavelength set at 540 nm to confirm the result 5. TEST FOR PBBs/PBDEs CONTENTS Weigh sample and place in a thimble Extracted by Soxhlet extraction with organic solvent Concentrate the extract Analyze by GC-MSD /HPLC Make up with organic solvent Transfer the extract into a volumetric flask PAGE 7 OF 8
