The topic of my Ph.D thesis was studying the dynamics and behaviour of water on the vicinity of a nano-confinement of silica materials (MCM-41). In this study, X-ray diffraction, Nitrogen-adsorption-desorption and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy are used. 1H, 2H and 29Si NMR measurements enabled us to specify different water spin groups on the surface of MCM-41 with different dynamics and relaxation rates. Magnetization exchange occurs between these components. Such exchange was investigated and a mathematical model, based on multi-site exchange, was constructed and used to analyze the experimental results. In addition, a definitive hydration site identification for MCM-41 was achieved. WORK EXPERIENCE Assistant Professor, Sept. 2009-now. Teaching: Physics 121 (University Physics I, Mechanics).
