INTERNATIONAL BIDDING ROUND TO GRANT OFFSHORE
The offshore sedimentary basins, due to their location, are one of the least explored geological areas in Peru, although for more than a century were discovered hydrocarbons in the north coast. Currently, this area has the highest daily and cumulative oil production in Peru. ³ The basins located in the central part of the continental shelf and in the south of the country, are one of the least explored areas, despite having geological and geophysical information of regional nature. The configuration and design of the blocks for the International Bidding Round do not overlap with Protected Natural Areas. Also the blocks are located at a distance of seven miles from the shoreline, respecting the area exclusively dedicated to artisanal fishing. Most proposed blocks have regional data and geological studies of hydrocarbon potential. Seismic surveys and geologicalgeophysical evaluations in offshore sedimentary basins, have identified a number of prospects and leads with probabilities for hydrocarbon exploration. 75 7 ³ 117 117 121 ECUADOR COLOMBIA 67 Z-3 Z-34 Z-1 XIX Z-46 Z-35 116 121 67 39 1-AB 129 115 12 64 123 144 5 5 XXIV 13 XIII 19 XXI 145 Z-6 95 137 XXVII XXVI XXVIII 13 Z-45 PERU Z-56 Z-57 16 1 31-B 31-E 161 31-C 163 31-D ARCO CONTAYA ARCO IUITOS 135 13 BRASIL PACIFIC OCEAN ATLANTIC OCEAN Z-4 133 131 114 126 1 Z-36 17 1 All blocks technical information for the International Bidding Round has been compiled in PERUPETRO S.A. INTERNATIONAL BIDDING ROUND TO GRANT OFFSHORE Lima Basin BLOCK On the North part of Lima basin, has been set up one block for the International Bidding Round to grant Offshore License Contracts. Block Area (ha) Available information Identified Prospects/Leads Z-5 76,753 741 km None Block Z-5 borders to the East with Blocks with current contracts Z-4 and Z-49, to the South borders with Block Z-51, and West with the Lima basin boundary. This block has a fair amount of data, but has not identified any exploration prospects yet. Main factors for block configuration: 1. Basin configuration. 2. Petroleum System hypothetical Paleozoic (same OS of the proposed well in Pisco offshore basin next to drill). 1 m: Bathymetry in Block Z-5, Lima basin. Unexplored basin, with many geological possibilities. Lack to confirm the Petroleum System in the basin. It needs more geological and geophysical studies. There is recent technical information in Trujillo and Pisco basins, surrounding the area. It is estimated that Lima basin has the same Petroleum System than Trujillo basin. Cretaceous kitchen Maturity Model in the Cretaceous: 93-75 Seismic Line located between the northern part of Pisco basin and southern of Lima Basin, showing Cretaceous kitchen. There have been conducted geological and geophysical studies by various companies in the coastal areas of Lima, Pisco and Paracas, having collected 49 samples for geochemical analysis. From these analyzes it was concluded that the Ambo Group of Carboniferous is the main Source Rock of Pisco and Lima Basins, being the same source rock of hydrocarbons in Camisea. 5
Lima-Pisco Basins BLOCK On the North part of Pisco basin and south of Lima basin, have been set up 3 new Blocks for the International Bidding Round to grant Offshore License Contracts. Block Area (ha) Available information Identified Prospects/Leads Z-53 23,617 Z-54 717,51 Z-55 651,145 2,493 km 56 km 515 km 7 6 5 Block Z-53 is located between the basins Pisco to the South and Lima to the North, separated by a structural high intermediate, and borders to the East by Block Z-33. Blocks Z-54 and Z-55 in Pisco basin, border to the East with line of 7 miles of artisanal fishing protection and Islands Systems, Islets and Puntas Guaneras. Block Z-54 also partially borders to the East with the Paracas National Reserve. To the West, the boundary of the 3 Blocks is approximately Pisco basin boundary. 1 m: Bathymetry, prospects and leads in Block Z-53, Lima-Pisco basins. All of these Blocks have good amount of recently information, but no exploratory Wells have been drilled in the offshore area. The Prospects and leads showed have been defined from the. Main factors for Blocks configuration: 1. Prospects and leads with exploration probabilities. 2. Existence of an Petroleum System hypothetical Paleozoic, next to be confirmed with drilling. Schematic Transversal Section. West to East Pisco Basin (Hunt Oil, 22). 6
INTERNATIONAL BIDDING ROUND TO GRANT OFFSHORE BLOCK BLOCK Inside Pisco Basin has been identified an active Petroleum System with a Carboniferous Source Rock, capable to generate hydrocarbons, mainly light oil and gas-condensate. In outcrops were observed Excellent Reservoir Rocks in Choros Formation of the Tertiary, with porosity and permeability of 34% and 533 milidarcies, respectively. Sandstones with a strong oil smell in Choros Formation, suggest that hydrocarbon generation comes from Ambo Group of the Carboniferous. Dark limestone from Pariatambo Formation of the Cretaceous with strong oil smell, could be principal or secondary Reservoir Rock. 1 m: Bathymetry, prospects and leads in Block Z-55, Pisco basin. The field geology and seismic interpretation, as well as drillings made through Oceanographic Drilling Program (ODP) have identified possible Seal Rocks present in the basin, which belong to Pisco Formation of the Upper Miocene, recovering the reservoirs of Choros Formation. Tectonic trenches and sub-basins types of pullapart from post-eocene age, associated with strikeslip faults and gravitational and rotational movements were caused by a major extensional event, being this predominant structural style for hydrocarbon traps forming. This structural style was recently confirmed by field geology and a new seismic interpretation at regional level. 1 m: Bathymetry, prospects and leads in Block Z-54, Pisco basin. 7
