GBIF Tools IPT Integrated Publishing Tool (Data Publishers) V1.0 was over-specified for most users, too slow, and not sufficiently robust a refactored Lite version of the IPT will be released by end of this year Authoring of metadata according to the GBIF metadata profile Import and mapping of checklist and occurrence data either from file upload or by connection of a database Registration to and publication onto the GBIF network Importing and mapping of data to the DarwinCore, and DarwinCore extensions Output formats of EML (2.1.0) metadata and DarwinCore Archive Improved customisation options for the "About this IPT" Improved GBIF Registry integration Improved DarwinCore extension and vocabulary organization Improved management of the organisations to which the IPT and resources are related, to enable co-hosting capabilities Enhanced dataset metadata authoring HIT Harvesting Indexing Tool (Country/Thematic participant nodes) 5

EPBRS Meeting-Positive Vision Phase I Developing the vision (16-17 November 2010) During the first two days, a large participatory meeting of 250 delegates will develop inspirational, achievable and shared visions for our future and the Nature we want. Phase II Building long term policy (18-19 November 2010) The final two days of the summit will build on the vision developed at the participatory meeting. Results will be debated by a group of about 120 EPBRS delegates and invited experts to suggest the long-term science policy that will enable society to move towards these positive visions, as well as outline options for other policies. 10
