His books include clever rhymes, drawings of make-believe creatures with silly names, and nonsense words. His stories also say something about how people behave. How much do you know about Dr. Seuss? Answers: Teacher Page 1. Dr. Seuss s real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel. 2. Dr. Seuss was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. 3. Dr. Seuss was born on March 2, 1904. 4. Dr. Seuss did not go to art school. He had no special training in art. 5. Dr. Seuss s book What Pet Should I Get? was published in 2015, after his death. 6. The Pulitzer Prize Board honored Dr. Seuss with a special prize. 7. The picture shows Dr. Seuss on a postage stamp surrounded by some of the characters he created. 8. Most kids will probably only be able to identify the Cat in the Hat and/or the Grinch. But the characters depicted on the stamp are (left to right) the Cat in the Hat (from The Cat in the Hat; the Grinch (from How the Grinch Stole Christmas); the Glotz (from Oh Say Can You Say); and the Skritz, the Skrink, and the anonymous young fellow protagonist (from I Had Trouble in Getting to Solla Sollew). 9. Famous or important people are often depicted on stamps. This may include important figures from history, politics, the sciences, or the arts. A stamp may commemorate such a person for their important contributions. Dr. Seuss wrote clever and funny books for children. He inspired millions of children to fall in love with reading. 10.
