Earthquakes: Nothing significant to report Volcanic Activity: Kilauea Volcano Hawai i County, HI (HVO Status Report June 14, 2018, 9:57 p.m. EDT) The eruption of lava continues from the lower East Rift Zone (LERZ) in Leilani Estates. Lava fountains continue to reach heights of 200 feet at Fissure 8. Lava spreading northeast from the fissure flowed through the well-established channel to the ocean at Kapoho. Volcanic gas emissions remain very high from Fissure 8 eruptions. No changes in gas emissions have been noted for several days. Wind conditions are changing and may bring VOG to the central, south, and western parts of the Island of Hawaii. Pele's hair and other lightweight volcanic glass fragments from the lava fountain at fissure 8 continue to fall downwind of the fissure, with accumulation on the ground mostly within a few hundred yards. Impacts: (FEMA-4366-DR-HI COP for Kilauea Volcanic Eruption and Earthquakes as of 10:53 p.m. EDT June 14) o 3 shelters open with 123 occupants (ARC Midnight Shelter Count, 5:18 am EDT June 14) o 4 injuries; no fatalities o 455 homes destroyed; 192 are primary residences (reporting limited to homes only; awaiting official numbers on homes and structures overall, assessments by drones are ongoing) o 474 structures isolated, but potentially not impacted due to roads being cut off by lava o Approximately 2,800 people evacuated; additional 150 people under voluntary evacuations o Temporary flight restrictions remain in effect through August 31 Response: o HI EOC at Partial Activation o Governor declared State of Emergency o National IMAT East-1 and elements of National IMAT East-2 deployed to HI o FEMA Region IX RWC at Steady State o Individual Assistance has been approved for Hawaii County o Disaster Recovery Center will open on June 15 Recovery Operations (Updated Weekly on Tuesday) 4
