To: Rishi Adhikari and Roger Skirrow From: Leslie Cho and Ian Darrach Stantec File: Date: June, Reference: North Central Region Edson Site NC HWY :, Deer Lodge Spring Task C: Instrumentation Monitoring Report. OBSERVATIONS. FIELD PROGRAM AND INSTRUMENTATION STATUS The Spring reading cycle consisted of instrument readings on two () slope inclinometers (SI-R and SI-R) and one () standpipe (SP). The instruments were read by Leslie Cho, M. Eng., EIT and Meagan Gebers, EIT on May,. SI-R and SP are incased below a flush mount casing on the shoulder of the highway. The slope inclinometers (SI) were measured using a Durham Geo Slope Indicator probe with. m ( ft) increments and Digitilt Datamate. A second reading was done with a RST MEMS digital inclinometer probe with. m increments and handheld PC. The standpipe piezometer (SP) was read using a Heron Instruments water tape.. INSTRUMENTATION READINGS. GENERAL SI plots are provided in the attachments and summarized in the following sections. Resultant plots in the x-direction along with movement rates, total cumulative movement, maximum movement rates, and incremental movements are provided in Table -.. ZONES OF MOVEMENT No new zones of movement were observed in any of the slope inclinometers since the Fall reading cycle. Table NC- summarizes the SI readings since installation of the SI casing. Directions of movement reported are referenced to the Azimuth of the A+ groove for each SI casing.. MONITORING RESULTS.. Slope Inclinometers Increases in the cumulative movement were observed to be mm in SI-R and less than mm in SI- R. Current SI readings continue to follow the seasonal trend of higher rates of movement between cl v:\\active\\task c instrumentation\monitoring reports\edson\nc\ nc spring instrumentation report.docx

June, Rishi Adhikari and Roger Skirrow Page of spring and fall. The overall rate of movement in SI-R was approximately mm/yr from to. A decrease in overall movement rate to approximately mm/year was observed onwards from. The previous reading observed a higher rate of movement of about mm/year and has since decreased to mm/year during the current Spring reading cycle. The overall rate of movement in SI-R was approximately mm/yr from to. A decrease in overall movement rate to approximately mm/year was observed onwards from. The current rate of movement has decreased to less than mm/yr... Piezometers A steady decrease in water level was observed from Fall to Fall. A sudden drop followed by a sudden increase in water level was observed in the Spring and Fall reading cycles, respectively. Since Fall, the water levels have generally been steadily decreasing over time.. RECOMMENDATIONS. FUTURE WORK It is recommended that all instruments be read in the fall cycle.. INSTRUMENTATION REPAIRS No instrumentation repairs are required at this time. cl v:\\active\\task c instrumentation\monitoring reports\edson\nc\ nc spring instrumentation report.docx
