Earthquake Activity Loyalty Islands M7.5 104 miles ESE of Tadine, New Caledonia Occurred at 11:18 pm EST on December 4, 2018 a magnitude 7.5 earthquake occurred 104 miles ESE of Tadine, New Caledonia at a depth of 6 miles Tsunami wave threats have passed with maximum 1 foot sea level raise experienced No threat to US territories, HI or the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands USGS issued a green pager for this event indicating a low likelihood of casualties or damages: USGS indicated that up to 3k people may have been exposed to moderate shaking (Level V on the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale) There have been no reports of injuries or damages Numerous aftershocks have occurred and are expected to continue There have been no requests for FEMA assistance
