Dr. Oscar van den Brink Managing Director COAST. Oscar van den Brink was trained as a mass spectrometrist at the FOM Institute for Atomic and Molecular Physics. He determined compositional changes in artists materials resulting from exposure to the museum environment and laser light exposure. He obtained his PhD from the University of Amsterdam in 2001. In that same year, Van den Brink joined AkzoNobel where he held various specialist and management positions in the fields of Mass Spectrometry, Spectroscopy and Process Analysis. In 2010 he became managing director of COAST. Prof. Dr. Ir. Peter Schoenmakers Professor Analytical Chemistry at the University of Amsterdam and COAST Educational Director Peter Schoenmakers obtained his PhD from the TU Delft in 1981. After a career in industry at Philips Research Labs (Eindhoven) and Shell (Amsterdam and Houston), he became full-time professor of polymer analysis and analytical chemistry at the University of Amsterdam in 2002. His current research focus is on comprehensive two-dimensional (liquid) chromatography and on applications of analytical chemistry in forensic science. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed papers. In 2009 he won the Eastern Analytical Award for Outstanding Achievements in Separation Science and in 2011 he received the Martin Gold Medal of the Chromatographic Society. In 2014 he received the prestigious Knox medal. Dr. Violeta Uricanu XRF Application Specialist ; ACC - Application Lab at PANalytical BV Ing. Suzan de Groot Researcher at the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE) Suzan de Groot studied analytical chemistry at the Hogeschool Amsterdam and graduated in 1996. She is employed by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE), at the Movable Heritage Department since 1996. She is currently engaged in Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Raman spectroscopy analyses of organic materials, especially plastics in objects of cultural heritage and modern materials in modern and contemporary art objects. She is also involved in testing physical and mechanical properties of various types of materials and carrying out artificial aging experiments. Prof. Dr. Ir. Hans-Gerd Janssen Professor of Biomacromolecular Separations at the University of Amsterdam and Skillbase leader Chromatography and Mass spectrometry at Unilever Hans-Gerd Janssen studied Chemistry at Eindhoven University of Technology, where he obtained his PhD in Analytical Chemistry in 1991. After his PhD, Janssen worked as Assistant/Associate Professor of Instrumental Analysis at Eindhoven University of Technology before he switched to Unilever Research and Development Vlaardingen to become the head of the chromatography and mass spectrometry skill base. He is specialized in problem solving and efficient routine analysis in the area of food analysis. Of special interest are oils and fats, and biomacromolecules. Janssen was appointed Extraordinary Professor at the University of Amsterdam in 2004. ASTP The Industries that need Analytical Sciences v 20150408
Dr. Hans Mol Senior Scientist Food Safety Analysis at RIKILT Hans Mol obtained his PhD Analytical Chemistry from Eindhoven University of Eindhoven in 1995 and did a PostDoc for one year at the VU Amsterdam. From 1996 until 2006 he worked as a product manager Analytical Services and Support for the Food and Agrochemical Industry at TNO, specializing in pesticide residues in food and environment. In 2006 he started working at RIKILT, where he is team leader and senior scientist in food safety analysis. Hans Mol has 18 years of experience in chemical detection methods for residues and contaminants. Dr. Gerda Edelman Forensic Scientist at Netherlands Forensic Institute Gerda Edelman graduated from the Master s program Forensic Science, University of Amsterdam, in 2006. After graduation she worked at the NFI as a Forensic Analyst, where she performed research on 3D modeling of crime scenes, height measurements of perpetrators on images and 3D reconstruction of events on video footage. After three years, she applied for a PhD position at the AMC, where she performed research on the spectral analysis of bloodstains at the crime scene. She successfully defended her PhD thesis in April 2014. Since June 2013 she has worked as Forensic Scientist at the NFI. Within the Mobile Forensic Team she is responsible for the development of innovative techniques, which can be used for the investigation of traces at the crime scene. Prof. Dr. Maarten Honing Competence Manager/Principle Scientist Mass Spectrometry at DSM Resolve and extra-ordinary Professor in Drug Discovery Analytics at VU University, Amsterdam. Maarten Honing studied Clinical Chemistry and Immunochemistry and worked for 10 years as a research technician at the Clinical Chemical Laboratory of the VU Medical Centre before starting his PhD. In 1995 he obtained his PhD in Chemistry at VU University Amsterdam in the field of Analytical Mass Spectrometry, in an international project focused on the LC-MSMS interfacing technologies for the analysis of carbamate pesticides in soil samples. Maarten worked at several companies in the field of Pharma and Bio Research before he joined DSM Resolve in 2011.
