The PROCEDE association has granted funds that allow for teachers to be released to work on a DBE implementation project. The team had its first meeting in June and is hard at work creating learning situations to present at the QPAT convention,. This event is planned for November 23 and 24, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Save the date and come meet this PLC team! M at h, Scien ce & Tech n ology On M ay 16th, 24 teacher s and 6 pedconsultants gather ed at PEC for a pr ovincial w or kshop on Science & Technology. Facilitated by Sonya Fiocco, Gor an Petr ovic, and Fr ancois GuayFleur ant, teacher s had the oppor tunity to analyze the change in teaching and evaluation pr actices for ST4061. The day began w ith a thor ough analyses of the four tasks that r epr esent Com petencies 1 and 3 cover ed in the pr actical exam s. A question and answ er per iod clar ified the teacher 's r ole dur ing the adm inistr ation of the pr actical exam s as w ell as the logistics of adm inister ing them in both the individualized and teacher led classr oom s. The follow ing link pr ovides teacher s and lab technicians w ith the pr oduct code, the cost, and the nam e of a supplier for each m ater ial that is r ecom m ended for the ST4061. List of Materials Teacher s then r eview ed the essential elem ents of a lear ning situation and analyzed a planning tool that is helpful in w r iting lear ning situations that ar e specific to the endofcour se outcom es In case you m issed it, her e is a link to the pr esentation. Presentation In r esponse to teacher feedback, PROCEDE aim s to pr ovide a sim ilar w or kshop for each of the thr ee r em aining Science & Technology cour ses par ticular ly 4063. A pr ovincial w or kshop on the evaluation of subjectspecific com petencies is also planned for next year.
M at h, Scien ce & Tech n ology Updat e f r om t h e M i n i st r y : ST4061: Although each pr actical exam pr ovides a list of r equir ed m ater ials, centr es can use w hat they pr esently have in stock as long as it allow s the student to successfully com plete the?assem bly? task of the pr actical exam. ST4062: Teacher s can adjust the values that ar e suggested on the pr actical exam in r elation to the m ater ials that ar e available at the individual centr es. The M inistr y w ill im pr ove the quality of the pictur es on Ver sion A and C of the 4061 exam s Ver sion A and B of the 4062 exam s All 4063 exam s. EST 4063: A youth sector lab technician can be hir ed to cut the pieces that ar e r equir ed for this cour se. The students can then use sm all hand tools to com plete the r equir ed tasks. Ch em i st r y & Physi cs Chem istr y: Exam B w ill soon be r eady in Fr ench for 5061/62. Physics: Pr ototypes for Physics exam s ar e in tr anslation r ight now. The m inistr y w ill only r elease exam s once the English ones ar e available as w ell. Some teachers have added resources and "helpful websites" to the DBE implementation website.
