Chaitanya Olympiad Rank 8 (Rs, 2000 cash award.) 5. 9 th National Science Olympiad (percentile 97.64, state rank 1, AIR 76). 6. Inter house quiz competition - 1 st prize. 7. Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO), state rank 10. Appeared for Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO), 2006. 8. Rs. 4000/- scholarship from Kairali School. 9. 1 st prize school level science exhibition. 10. Qualified in NEST 2007 (AIR 8) to become an INSPIRE FELLOW. 11. 1st prize on the spot drawing competition (district level). 12. Qualified GATE (Graduate aptitude Test in Engineering) 2011. All India Rank 678.

13. Qualified CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) for Junior Research Fellowship and Lecturer-ship 2011. All India Rank 40. Non-academic activities: I have been the member of sports committee, NISER for 2 years (2007-09). I have been an active member of the students gymkhana. I had been the cultural secretary of students gymkhana, NISER for the session 2009-10. I had been the President, students gymkhana, NISER for the session 2010-11. I am fine arts club student-in-charge & wall magazine in-charge. I am the gym-in-charge & gym-instructor at the boys hostel, NISER. Practical Skills:- Academic: I have learnt C++ programming for 2 semesters. I have used UV-Vis spectrophotometry for analyzing DNA, RNA, protein samples etc. I have also done experiments involving conductimetry, ph- metric titration, polarimetry, cyclic voltametry, column chromatography, ion exchange chromatography, disc centrifugation for determining the particle size, organometallic synthesis, IR spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, fluorescence spectroscopy etc. I have learnt NMR spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, mass spectroscopy, XRD, ENDOR spectroscopy, XPS, AFM, TEM & SEM (only theory). I have also learnt the basics of statistical mechanics & atomic physics. I have 4 months teaching experience at Kairali School, Ranchi teaching students of classes 8 to 12 (physics, chemistry, biology & maths). I am running a club named INNOTECH at NISER where I teach students how to build & invent. Technical: I have a good hold over machinery, tools & instruments. I require very less time to learn how to handle an instrument. I have been brought up in an engineering environment as my father owns an automobile repairing workshop, so I know each & every part of two wheelers. Also, my elder brother is a mechanical engineer from IIT, Kharagpur. I also have a good knowledge of electronics, electricals, plumbing & civil engineering. I own a small electronics lab at my room. I am engineer by skills but a scientist by mind (engi-scientist).

Inventions: Dish antenna constructed by using scraps. Submersible Centrifugal water pump (using scraps) capable of pumping water up to a height of 40 cm. Dimensions of this pump are 5 cm x 4cm x 4 cm. Unmanned railway crossing. Hovercraft (dimensions 26 cm diameter x 7 cm) capable of carrying weights up to 250 g. Time bomb. Fluid coupler. Geared centrifuge (presently 10000 rpm, under construction) constructed by me with the help of one of the most un-equipped workshop! Special features: up to 30,000 rpm & cost Rs. 50,000 only. Fully automatic robot capable of finding path & detecting interruptions. The robot was built for the Confluence 2K9, NIT Rourkela. Thermostat which can be coupled to a spectrophotometer to control the temperature in the range -15 to 95 o C. Worked under Prof. T. Pradeep, IITM on the topic methods of gel solidification for building a water purifier (Aquaguard). Research interests and career plans:- To develop new experimental techniques for research in chemistry, especially in the field of nano-science where one requires a sound knowledge of synthesis techniques, inorganic chemistry & engineering sciences. And so currently I am emphasizing more on learning techniques that are going to be useful in my future research work. I want to construct high precision & cost effective devices by applying my technical skills, innovative ideas & artistic finish. I want to invent such devices which would become an inevitable part the mankind, especially for the poorer section of the society. References:- 1. Prof. T. K.
