Lunations and Long-term Aspects The Full Moon on September 4 occurs in fellow Water Sign, Pisces, your 5th House of creativity, ego, children, romance, entertainment and speculation and will be especially noticeable for those of you born within a day or so of November 5th, since it will trine your Natal Sun; those born right around October 27 will also be more strongly affected. A Full Moon typically heralds an ending or culmination of a phase, meaning it's shifting to a different level. In this case it is most likely to be the latter since the New Moon on the 18th bears several similarities. This makes sense anyway since few things in life end that abruptly, as much as we wish that some things would. The aspects accompanying this lunation indicate challenges and adjustments that may require a change of course, but since the Full Moon itself is in a compatible sign it's relatively friendly so the results should be positive. One in particular will be of interest to Scorpios due to the fact it involves an opposition between your ancient and modern sign rulers, i.e. Mars and Pluto respectively. This aspect has a fairly wide orb and thus won't last much longer, but the Full Moon will carry its imprint to the next month at least. Both of these astrological entities are powerful forces and when they're opposing one another you do well to sit up and take notice. Mars is in Cancer, your 9th House of higher learning, other cultures, legal matters, relocation, long-distance travel, religion, politics, beliefs and expectations. Obviously this house is loaded with a plethora of matters and with Mars in that locale I'm confident that you're dealing with at least one of them at this time. Mars delivers drive and energy which will motivate you in your pursuits, whatever they may be. Pluto, however, is not making this an easy journey. Pluto is in Capricorn, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and short journeys. As the Zodiacal backhoe, Pluto does a fabulous job of digging up old dirt and demanding that anything unearthed is properly disposed of whether it's emotional baggage or repairing your electrical system; anything hidden that requires attention. Since he's currently grinding away on your mental plane, brothers and sisters, neighbors and short journeys, which include all those errands you run close to home, you're likely to be discovering all sorts of things. Since Scorpios are ruled by Pluto you already have the nose of a good hound for discovering secrets. As I've said before, Scorpios know everyone's secrets and have plenty of their own. So the question is how are these two working against each other? It wouldn't be difficult to set up a correspondence between numerous items in these two houses to help this along. For example, there's a definite correlation between your thoughts and ideas (3rd House) and your beliefs and expectations (9th House); short journeys (3rd) and long journeys (9th); neighbors (3rd) and other cultures (9th). In other words, the 3rd House represents things close to home and the 9th takes them to the next level. Thus, if there's something you're pursuing in the 9th House such as a relocation, there's something in the 3rd holding you back, such as the fact you quite like your existing neighborhood or living 2
close to your siblings. Knowing how perceptive Scorpios are, I'm sure you can figure this one out as it pertains to you on your own. Another aspect involving Mars is a square between the god of war and Mercury, who's for the moment in Libra, your 12th House of spirituality, imagination, enlightenment, confinement, institutions, and hidden enemies. Mercury stimulates our thoughts and actions and in cahoots with Mars this should be a very fruitful partnership in spite of the fact that a square usually denotes a crisis. No doubt what you're considering is important and causing a bit of stress anyway. Meanwhile, Mercury in your 12th House can help you examine your deepest needs at a spiritual level and use them to help in that decision represented by the Mars-Pluto opposition. A few days after the Full Moon Mercury goes retrograde, which is a positive time to reconsider, rework, research and "re" about anything which will also be helpful as you try to sort things out. There is also an opposition between Saturn and Uranus which is another interesting tugo-war. These two planets are about as antithetical as they can get, other than Saturn and Neptune, which we'll get to shortly. Saturn is all about structure, responsibility, your obligations, delays, authority and boundaries and he's in your 11th House of friends, groups, organizations, coworkers and oddly enough your hopes and wishes. Don't ask how that got in there because I don't know, but it is. Saturn will impart gloom, seriousness, hard lessons and heaviness to just about anything. He does NOT let us off the hook on anything and if there's such a thing as paying the piper, Saturn will be the collection agency making sure it happens. Thus, he will be making sure you take this area of your life seriously. Uranus, on the other hand, is all about disruptions, freedom, rebellion, surprises and unexpected events. Thus we have stability (Saturn) versus chaos (Uranus) and these two are operating between your 11th House as described earlier and your 5th House of ego, children, romance, entertainment and so forth as described earlier since that is also where the Full Moon occurs. This implies that a hectic pace instituted by unexpected events and surprises related to our children or romantic interests is interfering with our interactions with our friends or perhaps keeping us from pursuing our hopes and wishes. Again, I'm sure you Scorpios can do whatever "mix and match" is required to identify the specific opposing forces in your life. What you need to watch out for is that Scorpio tendency to obsess, which I'm sure is happening if these issues have a high degree of importance. Needless to say these oppositions can't go on forever so there is some astrological help with that as well in the form of two quincunxes, which indicate adjustments or course changes. Under certain circumstances they can also direct a justification or defending your view. One of these involves the Full Moon and Venus. Venus is in your 10th House of career and reputation, a rather fortuitous placement for advancing your interests in that area. You will be looked upon favorably, making it a good time to promote yourself and any ideas that could bring advancement. The quincunx to the Full Moon in your 5th House of creativity, children, etc. implies that a course change will be required either in that area or your career. Perhaps your career ambitions are having a deleterious affect on your children or romantic interests. The Moon and Venus also frequently 3
represent females in your life and the Moon also represents our emotions. Maybe more career or self-promotion action is keeping you from creative efforts you enjoy or, on the other hand, since the 5th House also contains your ego, maybe things are going to well you need to be cautious about becoming a bit too self-enamored. Do the math and see what you come up with. The quincunx between stuffy Saturn putting a damper on your friends and such in your 11th House and dreamy Neptune in your 4th House of home environment is another area demanding some adjustments. These two planets are also as different as night and day. While Saturn imposes structure and responsibility, Neptune dissolves boundaries and takes us off to la-la-land through whatever means necessary whether it's simple daydreaming or adult beverages. Saturn is all about reality and Neptune illusions. This is as good of place as any to remind you of that Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune stellium that has been cruising along in Aquarius for several months now. Jupiter expands and exaggerates what he contacts and Chiron is about injuries of all varieties. This trio could be about big disappointments due to being out of touch with reality or conversely about fulfilling dreams that we've longed for over the course of years. At any rate, it's illusive, but Saturn is giving it a sanity check of some description. This sounds like a good thing, particularly if you've been carried away with some hope or wish that relates to your homelife. If this sounds familiar, take off the rose-colored glasses and make sure you're seeing things as they really are. This is not to say that they don't exist, only that they may not be as perfect as you'd like to think. Get one of your Air or Earth Sign friends to help, if needed. And then there's the New Moon on September 18th which occurs in Virgo, your 11th House of friends, groups, organizations and such as defined earlier. Considering everything going on for that Full Moon it's not too difficult to see how situations are shifting to a new phase in this part of your life. By definition a New Moon is a conjunction between the Sun and Moon, but on top of that they're in the same degree of Saturn, so here comes more of that "this is the way it really is" from the instigator of the Universe's hard lessons. This is a lunation that may very well wipe that silly smile off your face as it rips away those rose-colored glasses if you haven't already removed them yourself. Mercury is conjunct the New Moon as well and he's retrograde, forcing a few reconsiderations. This is a definite call for some reality checks on those hopes and wishes. Several other planets are assisting this pushy stellium with more sobering aspects. Pluto is squaring them, which will help you probe deeply enough into the facts to start adding things up. He's also trining Venus, which should help remind you of those career issues that should still be going well, however that fits into things. Uranus, however, who consistently stirs things up, is opposite the New Moon and all his escorts and as you may remember he's in your 5th House of ego, creativity, children, lovers and so forth, so someone or something in that area is going to be presenting an argument or disruption of some sort that will oppose that new phase, whatever it is. Neptune is quincunx the Sun, Moon and Saturn, again demanding some adjustments that pertain to your home 4
environment. Whatever it is you want to do, the way is not free of speedbumps. Neptune is also opposing Venus, which could dissolve those career enhancements before your very eyes. Note that the only clearly positive aspect is that trine between your buddy, Pluto, and Venus in your House of career, providing you with the ability to do a thorough, forensic evaluation on the entire situation. My advice is to do exactly that and not be lulled away by dreams or wishes that may be no more than castles in the clouds. Daily and Short-Term Aspects September 1-3: Find some time for quiet contemplation conducive to enlightenment as it pertains to your homelife. Your drive to pursue something important is going to affect others close to you and you need to make sure to base your decision on facts; put together an objective list of the pros and cons. If things are going well in your career, they could be causing problems elsewhere, such as with your friends or coworkers, especially if you come up with a flash of creative innovation that puts you in the spotlight. Don't neglect your responsibilities, whatever they might be. Something unexpected could arise relative to your children or lovers. September 4: The Full Moon occurs on this date as described above. September 7: Mercury goes retrograde today until September 28. Until the 18th he'll be assisting you with discovering what your dreams really comprise and could also help you identify anyone who's trying to undermine you. On the 18th he goes into your 11th House of friends, hopes and wishes, helping you to rethink and reconsider any issues in that part of your life. September 8-10: Comprehensive ideas related to your career continue to flow. Since Mercury is retrograde, this is a time when you should be reworking, editing and reconsidering existing issues rather than attempting to move forward. Thus, use these new ideas in the context of how they'll affect the status quo and any changes that need to be made. Your drive toward pursuing those big plans may encounter some inspiration related to your homelife, though it could also serve to dissipate them as well. Opportunities are out there that relate to your career, however, so sort through the facts carefully. Pluto comes out of retrograde today, which should help you take all he's unearthed and start figuring out what it all means. September 11: Career benefits will be tugging against something big related to your homelife today. A change of course suggested by your friends or perhaps adjustments to those hopes and wishes will help determine what to do. Don't forget to listen to your gutfeeling as well. September 12-14: A flood of ideas and thoughts you'd missed previously will initiate a change of course related to your responsibilities, homelife, and hopes and wishes. September 15: A variety of disturbances that could relate to your current sense of security could arise today. Responsibilities versus freedom to pursue what you really 5
want in life will be in a tug-o-war between career and home. Keeping a firm grip on reality without destroying your dreams will be a major challenge. Expect to change course again. September 16-17: Coworkers or friends will be getting on your nerves or stirring things up. Be prepared to make a few more adjustments related to your dreams and existing homelife; responsibilities will be glaring in your face. Find some quiet time today for meditation or getting in touch with your higher self where some answers await your beckon-call. September 18: New Moon today as described above. Mercury backs into Virgo, assisting you with re-planning and reworking some issues with friend or coworkers. On the other hand, others may not have a clue what you're talking about until Mercury goes direct on the 28th. You'll be able to tell by that deer-in-the-headlights look they're giving you. September 19-21: Coworkers or friends will be annoying again, but you'll finally be able to figure out exactly what the problem is. Things will gradually begin to improve in this area but it's not going to help those big plans you're been thinking about. September 22-23: The Sun goes into Libra on the 22nd, further illuminating your dreams and helping you get in touch with your spiritual self. If anyone is out to get you it will also become obvious. Your responsibilities will be glaring once again, so start making that pro and con list between the two. It's a favorable time to discern the facts and any hidden information. Disruptions and unexpected events are out there as well, though these may come in the form of thoughts you'd missed previously. Time for more adjustments one way or another that relate to home and those big plans/aspirations. September 25-30: More adjustments to those big plans as they affect your homelife. The facts at all levels should be falling into place, particularly after the 28th when Mercury goes direct. Opportunities await that relate to those big plans. Take all the information you've gathered and figure out where to go from here.
