The Actual Deed! Make sure your are prepared Have witness available and already in the office or conference room Practice what you are going to say Make is short and to the point We have decided that today is going to be your last day with the company We will be cleaning out your locker and or desk together 6
Terminating Employees Make sure you let the employee leave with DIGNITY Do this first thing in the AM and not on a Friday if possible If they want to discuss the termination, tell them the decision has already been made If they ask about unemployment, tell them that TWC makes the decision regarding eligibility 7

TWC Paperwork Initial Claim will be filed and SCC will be asked to respond Response is date sensitive TWC gives 3 to 10 days to respond If you receive a form, please fax it to Cindy Wheeler at Corporate Office After initial response, if TWC has additional questions, they will contact Human Resource Director They may require additional paperwork Want to speak with the manager involved TWC only gives 1 or 2 days to get back with them VERY IMPORTANT TO RESPOND BACK 9
TWC Paperwork When we do not respond back, TWC will make a decision based on the information they have If we do not respond to initial filing, we loose our appeal rights - FOREVER The Claimant often does not tell the truth Claim layoff Claim never knew of policy Claim never trained Claim never spoken too regarding attendance or performance problems Claim medical condition 10
TWC TWC will ask for all the pertinent paperwork They require dates, and validation that employee knew they were not performing or should have known the policy they were breaking 11
TWC Hearing The date they give us for a hearing can not be rescheduled easily Hearings are conducted on the phone All witnesses need to be present or waiting outside the door the day of the hearing Lasts about one hour A representative from the company is appointed 12
TWC Hearing Only the Company Representative can ask questions to the witnesses All participants will be sworn in No talking during the hearing Any and all documents that will be addressed in the hearing need to be submitted prior to hearing 13
TWC Hearing Keep answers short and to the point Do not elaborate or make comments not in regard to the question asked Have notes or paperwork regarding individual 14
