AMGI/EURASAP Workshop Zagreb, May 24-26, 2007 Air Quality Management, Monitoring, Modeling, and Health Effects AMGI The workshop is partly subsidized by the Croatian Ministry of Environmental Protection, Physical Planning and Construction. WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES Provide background on different aspects of science and policy for air quality improvement at local, regional, and global scales. Share information among different disciplines in the atmospheric, meteorological, health sciences. Provide a public forum for explaining the nature and potential impacts of wasteto-energy facilities and other stationary industrial sources. Prof. Peter Builtjes, TNO, Apeldoorn, the Netherlands will chair the workshop. Local organiser is Zvjezdana Bencetić Klaić, AMGI, Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb The workshop will begin on Thursday, May 24, 2007, 08:00. The workshop will end on Saturday, May 26, 2007, 12:30. The workshop will be held at the Andrija Mohorovičić Geophysical Institute (AMGI), Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, Horvatovac bb. FORMAT Two full days of scientific presentations and discussions. First day consists of overview presentations from U.S. scientists to provide an update on recent knowledge. Second day consists of updates on air quality policies and sciences 1

from guest and Croatian scientists, regulators, and industrialists. For longer presentations (40 min), about 10 minutes will be devoted to questions and discussion. The morning seminar on day three regarding emissions, transport, ambient concentrations and potential health effects from stationary sources will be presented in layman s terms in Croatian, and will be open to both the public and members of the press.
