BNA Series PLENUM FAN with Backward Wheels

BNA Series BNA Series Plenum Fans Backward wheels Kruger Plenum Fans are designed for air handling applications where the fan operates unhoused within a plenum. This results in saving of the space normally occupied by fan housing, transitions and diffusers. The fan wheel pressurizes the entire surrounding air plenum. This allows air ducts to be directly connected to the air handling unit enclosure from any direction. The compact size of the plenum fan makes it an excellent selection for retrofit and replacement application and for variable air volume systems. Type / Operating Limit Each fan type has its maximum operating speed and power due to its mechanical design. The BNA series is designed to meet the requirement of class I, II and III limit as defined in AMCA standard 99-208-9. The BNA series is available in Direct Driven and Belt Driven, Type D, T or U as shown below: Type D This type is supplied with motor support. It is a compact, space saving design with motor directly connected to wheel. As there is no belts or pulley, the maintenance is minimal. This construction is mainly designed/ used for cleanroom, with or without VFD, as there is no belt residue which may contaminate the airstreams. Fan Size : 15 to 100 Volume : 0 to,000 m /h Total Pressure : up to 000 Pa Type T Compact design of reduced shaft length with a bearing located at the inlet. It requires separate base for motor mounting. Fan Size : 15 to 100 Volume : 0 to,000 m /h Total Pressure : up to 000 Pa Drawing and dimension of type T are available upon request. Type U No bearings at fan inlet to affect performance. Requires separate base for motor mounting. Fan Size : 15 to 100 Volume : 0 to,000 m /h Total Pressure : up to 000 Pa Drawing and dimension of type U are available upon request. Wheel TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION The wheel of BNA series has backward curved blades manufactured in cold rolled sheet steel with polyester powder coating finish. Shaft Shafts are manufactured from C5 carbon steel using an automatic process for positioning and cutting of the keyways. All dimensional tolerances of the shaft are fully checked to ensure a precision fit. All shafts are coated with an anti-corrosion varnish after assembly.

BNA Series Bearings Bearings used are either deep groove ball bearings with an adapter sleeve, or spherical roller bearings sealed at both sides for different duty application. Bearings are lubricated for life and maintenance-free. If relubrication is necessary, it is recommended to use lithium base grease suitable for all temperatures within the operational limits. Balancing Quality All wheels are statically and dynamically balanced to ISO1 and AMCA 20 G2.5 standard. All fans after assembly are trim-balanced to ISO1 and AMCA 20 - G2.5 standard. Clean room application fans with balancing grade of G1.0 are available upon request. ACCESSORIES Inlet Guards Inlet guards may be a requirement stated in some industrial safety regulations. These are available on request. Motor Selection The power curve shown on each performance curve represents the absorbed power at the shaft of the fan measured in kw. To determine the power of the motor to be installed, a correction factor should be applied to compensate for the transmission losses. For conversion to horsepower (HP), use multiplying factor 1.. Correction Factor, % motor power output 0 0 0 20 15 10 8 2 Pole & Pole 2 1.5 1 0.2 0. 0.5 0. 0.75 1.5 2.2.5 7.5 15 22.5 0 5 0 75 150 225 00 50 Motor power output (kw)

BNA Series Performance The tentative performance data shown on each diagram are obtained from test and measurement conducted in accordance to AMCA Standard 210 Fig 12 installation type B (free inlet and ducted outlet condition). The performance is achieved under test conditions of radial discharge, smooth air flows with the aid of proper transitions from plenum outlet to duct, and in a plenum which meets the recommended minimum distance for plenum fans installation. An outlet duct of appropriate size, which gives a reasonable outlet velocity to overcome losses, has also been employed. Rating is referred to the standard air density with the total pressure as a function of the air volume, using logarithmic scales. It is essential that, the same installation type and test standards are used at all times, when comparing fan performances. Noise The noise level shown on each diagram refer to the sound power "Aweighted" and the data on the inlet side has been measured in accordance with AMCA Standard 00. The noise levels of the fans are determined as follows: Sound power level - ("A" scale): Lw (A) as catalogue Octave band spectrum: Lw = Lw(A) + Lw rel. db [refer to Kruger for more details] Sound pressure level: a) free field Lp(A) = Lw(A) - (20log 10 d) -11 b) room conditions Lp(A) = Lw(A) - (20log 10 d) -7 where d = distance from fan (m) SELECTION GUIDELINES To assure optimum performance and be able to use plenum effect pressure loss indicated in the next section, the following guidelines should be adhered to in plenum fan selection. Minimum Distance Recommended minimum distances for correct plenum fan installation. D = Impeller Diameter E>D R>10D A>1.D

BNA Series Plenum Radial Duct Discharge Axial Duct Discharge PLA = K* x Pd Discharge Direction Plenum Effect Loss Fan performance is developed from test conditions of radial discharge. The pressure loss associated with the duct take off, from the plenum, at a different location must be added to the static pressure required of the fan. The correction factor, K*, for pressure loss for axial discharge can be obtained below. Working Example: Required air volume Q, 8m /s and static pressure P s, 1Pa with Discharge duct A=1m², For Axial Duct Discharge:- Outlet Velocity, V = Q/A = 8/1 = 8 m/s Pressure Loss Coefficient, K* 10 8 2 0 0 2 8 10 12 1 1 18 20 Fan Outlet Velocity (m/s) From chart, at outlet velocity, 8m/s, pressure loss coefficient, K* = 1.. Pressure loss = K* x Dynamic Pressure, P d = K* x (V/1.)² = 1. x (8/1.)² = 5 Pa Actual Required static pressure P s = 1+5 = 155 Pa Required Plenum fan selection is to be done with the duty below: Q = 8 m /s and Static Pressure P s = 155 Pa 5
