California earned 61.5 points in the Football Bowl Subdivision final poll to move from fourth to first. The Golden Bears have 364.5 overall points with a national championship in men s water polo, a ninth place showing in women s field hockey, women s volleyball and men s soccer, and a 17 th place finish in women s soccer. Twelve-time defending champion Stanford is in second with 334 points. The Cardinal finished first in women s cross country, runner-up in women s volleyball, fourth overall in men s cross country and ninth in women s soccer. Duke stayed at the number-three spot with 316 points. The Blue Devils had a third place finish in women s field hockey, fifth in men s soccer, 10 th in women s cross country and 17 th in both women s soccer and volleyball. UCLA and Wisconsin are tied fourth with 309 points each. The Bruins highest finish came in men s soccer, where they finished second overall. They also were third in both women s soccer and women s volleyball, 23 rd in men s cross country and 41 st in Football Bowl Subdivision football. The Badgers recorded a runner-up finish in men s cross country, fourth in women s cross country, fifth in the Football Bowl Subdivision and ninth in women s volleyball. Florida captured the Tostitos BCS Championship Game on Monday. Prior to this national championship, also winning national titles were Colorado, men s cross country; Stanford, women s cross country; Maryland, women s field hockey; UC Santa Barbara, men s soccer; California, men s water polo; North Carolina, women s soccer; Nebraska, women s volleyball; and Appalachian State, Football Championship Subdivision. The Sports Academy Directors Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. The United States Sports Academy, based in Daphne, Alabama, is the program s sponsor. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports 10 women s and 10 men s. Please note, standings published midseason are unofficial. Official standings will be published upon the completion of the spring season.
