The swimming program was a high focus for the term. Commonwealth Games baton relay and Stomp (dance) were other activities we shared with other schools. The term ends at 1:30 on Friday. Annual Report I have now completed and submitted to the Education department (DET)the 2017 Lake Charm Annual Report. One of the highlights is that over the last four years 100% of our grade 3 students and 75% of our
EE grade 5 students have scored in the top two bands in NAPLAN Reading (out of six bands (levels). A performance other Victorian schools would envy. Sleepover On Thursday April 26 th Lake Charm Primary will be joining Ultima Primary for two days of learning and fun at the annual sleepover. This year we will be hosted by Ultima Primary. Gallipoli Oak Thanks to the successful application by David Gracia and James Sait back in term 1 2105, Lake Charm Primary has been successful in receiving a Gallipoli Oak. The oak should be arriving near the commencement of term 2. This gives us a little time to think about where to plant it. Cooking Over the last few weeks, we have supplemented our Food Bank lunches with a series of taco and pizza cooking and eating lunches. Thanks, especially to Katrina for your help with the two pizza days. So delicious! What s Happening in the Classroom ZOOPER DOOPERS for sale @50c every lunchtime. Miss Noonan and Mr. Millard are donating the Zooper Doopers and the funds we raise will go towards those less fortunate than ourselves. We hope to purchase a sleeping tent for a homeless person. This will help to remind us to be kind to people who need a helping hand. (The Zooper doopers will be available until we at least raise our $100 needed for a swag for a homeless person). Last Friday all students received a free Zooper Dooper, compliments of Mr.M, in recognition of a 100% attendance for the week. Classroom Happenings In Science, under our head scientist Keigan, we have made mini crystals using water, baking powder and string. Some of our senior students have already (in five weeks) completed (mastered -90% + accuracy) over a third of the Mathletics tasks for their appropriate grade level. This is an amazing effort! Special mention to Freya who was first to reach 50% of all tasks completed! In Mathematics the students are working through a Practising Mathletics text book as well as Mathletics. Both programs supplement the daily class activities/focus we do in Mathematics. Our hard work in Writing is being rewarded with our students producing some very high quality writing.
Over the last two weeks we have had Free Write, a creative retell of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and a fact or fiction retell of a bad experience with an insect pest. Here are some of their 20 minutes quick write efforts. Our senior students have all observed a significant improvement in their Spelling this year. Keep up the good work! In term 2 we will have a small weekly homework task.. The Game Finally! I have the game that I have wanted for years the games name is The escape of 2012. But I m just going to call it The Game. I m starting the game on a boat. The game is loading. Here it is, the game is starting! No! I have um kind of dropped the game in the water. Quick get the game! I have sailed the seven seas and still no sign of it. Finally we have reached land. I don t know where though Oh its Japan. I said to the sailors, Wait for me here! I set off to find the game. I see it! The game is on the shore. So I ran to get it. Yes I have it! Years of wanting it and even longer finding it! As quickly as I could I ran to the crew and said, I ve got it I ve got it! Then we set sail for Australia. When we got back to Australia I started the game again. I was so excited. Oh NO!!! it s so wet its broken! So I lived in the sewers sulking for the rest of my life. The end. Ryan My birthday The day was my birthday I was just waking up. I got out of bed. I was walking out of my bedroom and guess what. Like usual my little sister (Hanna) jumps out from around the corner with what I thought was a zombie costume. But it was just her onesie with a zombie mask on. I mean I had just woken up like come on! But I did scream. Please don t tell anyone. If you do I will take you to my home and tie you to the bottom of the chook pen for the night with no food. Then I will take you out to sea in a boat and throw you out into a boat with no engine, only giving you a pillow and a blanket (the boat is tied to the bottom of the sea) all night. To be continued.. Milla It was Tuesday morning and I (Baby Bear) went downstairs for breakfast. When I got to the kitchen I saw Daddy Bear cooking porridge for breakfast. I said, I want it cold please. Daddy Bear talking normally replied. One cold bowl of porridge coming up! I went to wake Mummy Bear up while I was waiting for my porridge. When our porridge was ready we all sat down at the table. We had a taste test. I said to Daddy Bear, My porridge is too warm! Mummy Bear said, Mine is too cold! Daddy Bear said, Mine is just right! So we all went to town to get some things. I bought a ps4. When we got home all of my porridge was gone. We all went upstairs and there was Goldilocks sitting in my chair playing on my ipad. Daddy Bear walked up to Goldilocks and said, How did you get in here? Goldilocks replied nervously, You left the front door open! Daddy Bear said to Goldilocks, You are now our butler for the rest of your life! So the three bears lived happily ever after Blake I was sleeping in my bed at night, actually I was not sleeping because there was something buzzing around me. Something was buzzing around me. I could not sleep because that nasty little blighter was annoying me. There was something on my face so I tried to smack it. As soon as I smacked my head it flew away. I smacked my head. Ouch!
I yelled. I did not know that It was going to my head. When I sat up I saw it was a mosquito. I will get you someday little mosquito! I mumbled evilly. I felt my head. I had a bump on my head. No! I have a bump on my head I yelled. What is all that noise? said Milla sleepily. I have a bump on my head Milla. Can you not see? I said. To be continued Freya Bees are the worst. They sting you. We have one in our house. There it is. I ll grab the bee spray. The bee grabbed it. Oh no! Run! 10 days later. Run! Lucky he is all out of spray. Wacky wheels Keigan One day I woke up and had breakfast. After I got dressed I went to the park. and the duck had a wheel head, and the pig had a couple of wheels for his legs. The three twins had their hair chopped off by a really sharp wacky wheel. The cat was riding a horse, so I did too. I bumped into a jar. A genie came out and I said, How did these wacky things happen? You just need to go to bed. So I did. Chapter 2 The next day I woke up and everything was back to normal. That day I cleaned the whole house. It was hard work.but there was still one more wacky thing. There were bananas growing in the lemon tree. I had no clue to fix that so I asked mum and she knew. She said, Pick the bananas off. It worked Yay! Chapter 3 I woke up and the lemon tree was back to normal, and everything was back to normal. It was the middle of the day, I was tired. Then I had tea. It was fish and chips. Megan I was asleep. I woke up and I saw a spider. It bit me. OUCH! I put a bandage on my hand. I am scared of spiders. I said to Mum, I got bitten by a spider. Mum said, Are you all right? I am, I said. I was scared to death. ART In Art we have made some lovely egg carton/ toilet roll Aussie creatures and practised our painting skills by colouring in an aussie creature. Paige
