Principal's Report to ~ November 2015 First of all, a huge thank you for your financial support of our initiatives proposed to date for this year. Saturday and Sunday we were here as the railings for the stage draperies were installed we hope to have them sewn and hung as the rehearsals for our Christmas production begin. Freshgrade carries on. We presented to the school district last week and were very well received: Dex, his parents, Patti Sader, Tim and I shared Dex's K and grade 1 portfolios. The school district is moving in this direction and has provided a Freshgrade license for each teacher to date. Freshgrade allows us to build a portfolio which is essentially ongoing reporting of student progress. At term end it is important to ensure summative (end of a term of study) assessments are clear that teachers, parents and students know exactly where the student's learning is in relation to the curricular outcomes. At this time we will include a one-page 'report card' as a PDF on Freshgrade that will include all of the subjects taken and 'marks' or performance levels in each of those subjects. A paper copy will be in each student file and the evidence that supports the 'grades' will of course be the portfolio itself which includes samples of the work done over the term, and 'key assessments'. We will need to delay the production of this one pager from Dec 11- Dec 17 as the training for this portion of reporting on MyEDBC is not available until the end of November. Every seat in the school is filled. A waiting list continues. The plan remains to open one more classroom when registration begins in the New Year. This will leave us with 18 classes next year and one DaVinci Studio left for collaborative work. We anticipate 4 families for certain who would benefit from a gift card at Christmas time and likely a fifth. Thank you for considering this part of your work it's wonderful!! Lost and Found confounds me any ideas? Thanks again for the gift of your time and commitment to your child's school, Alida
