Stargazing: A big dark sky with lots of stars is a memorable part of the Weekapaug experience. Join the Naturalist after dark to spot the moon, stars and constellations. Birding by Van: Utilizing the Inn van we will visit locations where we will likely spot seasonal birds through our spotting scope. Van Tour for Sunset: This outing is about an hour long and we typically drive to the lighthouse for big views of the sunset. In the event of overcast sky, we will explore this charming village and its history. Naturalist s : Join our naturalist on an hour-long walk down the barrier beach. He will point out wildlife, interesting plants and landmarks. The beach is beautiful and great for walking throughout the year. Kitchen Arts: Interesting tours and programs relating to food, drink and fine living. Cocktail Demo and Tasting join our bartender for about ½ hour of lessons on several signature cocktails. A Visit to Capizzano s: Westerly has a wonderful shop dedicated to first-rate olive oils and balsamic vinegars. Join us for a visit, where the owners will share samples and a wealth of knowledge. Solar Telescope: View the sun through our beautiful scope outfitted with a high-end solar filter. This is a safe way to see sunspots on the surface of the sun. Slide Show: Join Capt. Mark (our living relic from the Inn of yore) for a look at the Inn s history and an overview of how and why hospitality developed in the Westerly/Watch Hill/Weekapaug area. Van Tour : A tour along the coast to Watch Hill, where we will explore the back lanes take in many of the beautiful historic homes. Capt. Mark leads the trips and talks about hurricanes, ship wrecks and local history. Guides: The following guides are available at the front desk: Local jogging and biking maps. Mark was there and thinks this movie does a great job of capturing the feel of Lake Placid and the big event. Saturday 1-27: Apollo 13 (1995) Ron Howard and Tom Hanks team up to dramatize the aborted and almost disastrous moonshot. Following a critical malfunction, the goal was to come home alive and failure was not an option! Post showing, we will set up a telescope and survey the moon and the Apollo landing sites. The blue moon occurs when we have two full moons in one month. Sounds like it s worth a toast! Join us for the moonrise over the salt pond and a glass of bubbly.
