A dual approach... b-poisson structures can be seen as symplectic structures modeled over a Lie algebroid (the b-cotangent bundle). A vector field v is a b-vector field if v p T p Z for all p Z. The b-tangent bundle b T M is defined by { } Γ(U, b b-vector fields T M) = on (U, U Z) Eva Miranda (UPC) Singular Symplectic manifolds December 12, 2017 2 / 18
b-forms The b-cotangent bundle b T M is ( b T M). Sections of Λ p ( b T M) are b-forms, b Ω p (M).The standard differential extends to d : b Ω p (M) b Ω p+1 (M) A b-symplectic form is a closed, nondegenerate, b-form of degree 2. This dual point of view, allows to prove a b-darboux theorem and semilocal forms via an adaptation of Moser s path method because we can play the same tricks as in the symplectic case. What else? Relative Moser theorem Theorem Let ω 0 and ω 1 be two b-symplectic forms on (M, Z). If ω 0 Z = ω 1 Z, then there exist neighborhoods U 0, U 1 of Z in M and a diffeomorphism γ : U 0 U 1 such that γ Z = id Z and γ ω 1 = ω 0. Theorem Let ω 0 and ω 1 be two b-symplectic forms on (M, Z). If they induce on Z the same restriction of the Poisson structure and their modular vector fields differ on Z by a Hamiltonian vector field, then there exist neighborhoods U 0, U 1 of Z in M and a diffeomorphism γ : U 0 U 1 such that γ Z = id Z and γ ω 1 = ω 0. Global Moser theorem Theorem Suppose that M is compact and let ω 0 and ω 1 be two b-symplectic forms on (M, Z). Suppose that ω t, for 0 t 1, is a smooth family of b-symplectic forms on (M, Z) joining ω 0 and ω 1 and such that the b-cohomology class [ω t ] does not depend on t. Then, there exists a family of diffeomorphisms γ t : M M, for 0 t 1 such that γ t leaves Z invariant and γ t ω t = ω 0. Eva Miranda (UPC) Singular Symplectic manifolds December 12, 2017 5 / 18
Radko s theorem revisited Theorem (Mazzeo-Melrose) The b-cohomology groups of a compact M are computable by b H (M) = H (M) H 1 (Z). Corollary (Classification of b-symplectic surfaces à la Moser) Two b-symplectic forms ω 0 and ω 1 on an orientable compact surface are b-symplectomorphic if and only if [ω 0 ] = [ω 1 ]. Moment maps in Symplectic Geometry Definition (Symplectic case) Let G be a compact Lie group acting symplectically on (M, ω). The action is Hamiltonian if there exists an equivariant map µ : M g such that for each element X g, with µ X =< µ, X >. The map µ is called the moment map. dµ X = ι X #ω, (1) Eva Miranda (UPC) Singular Symplectic manifolds December 12, 2017 7 / 18
Delzant theorem for symplectic manifolds Theorem (Delzant) Toric manifolds are classified by Delzant s polytopes. More specifically, the bijective correspondence between these two sets is given by the image of the {toric manifolds} {Delzant polytopes} moment map: (M 2n, ω, T n, F ) F (M) R µ = h CP 2 µ (t 1, t 2 ) [z 0 : z 1 : z 2 ] = [z 0 : e it1 z 1 : e it2 z 2 ] Eva Miranda (UPC) Singular Symplectic manifolds December 12, 2017 8 / 18
Why toric? Given an integrable system F = (f 1,..., f n ) ( {f i, f j } = 0) and a compact fiber, Theorem (Arnold-Liouville) There exist semilocal action-angle coordinates (p 1, θ 1,..., p n, θ n ) such that ω = n i=0 dp i dθ i, F = (p 1,..., p n ) with linear Hamiltonian flow on the torus. Liouville tori (left) and Bohr-Sommerfeld orbits read from the polytope (right) Some applications: Singular fibrations: Symplectic Morse-Bott classification. Surfaces and circle actions Surfaces and circle actions The only orientable compact surfaces admitting an effective action by circles are the two sphere S 2 and the 2-torus T 2 and the action is equivalent to the standard action by rotations. In the symplectic case the standard rotation on T 2 is not Hamiltonian (only symplectic). dθ 1 dθ 2 ( θ 1, ) = dθ 2. In the b-symplectic case, the toric surfaces are either the sphere or the torus. Classification of toric b-surfaces Theorem (Guillemin, M., Pires, Scott) A toric b-symplectic surface is equivariantly b-symplectomorphic to either (S 2, Z) or (T 2, Z), where Z is a collection of latitude circles. The action is the standard rotation, and the b-symplectic form is determined by the modular periods of the critical curves and the regularized Liouville volume. The weights w(a) of the codomain of the moment map are given by de modular periods of the connected components of the critical hypersurface. The S 1 -b-sphere Example (S 2, ω = dh h dθ), with coordinates h [ 1, 1] and θ [0, 2π]. The critical hypersurface Z is the equator, given by h = 0. For the S 1 -action by rotations, the moment map is µ(h, θ) = log h. µ = log h Eva Miranda (UPC) Singular Symplectic manifolds December 12, 2017 12 / 18
The S 1 -b-torus Example On (T 2, ω = dθ 1 sin θ 1 dθ 2 ), with coordinates: θ 1, θ 2 [0, 2π]. The critical hypersurface Z is the union of two disjoint circles, given by θ 1 = 0 and θ 1 = π. Consider rotations in θ 2 the moment map is µ : T 2 R 2 is given by µ(θ 1, θ 2 ) = log. 1+cos(θ 1) sin(θ 1 ) µ Eva Miranda (UPC) Singular Symplectic manifolds December 12, 2017 12 / 18

The semilocal model Fix b t with wt(1) = c. For any Delzant polytope t Z with corresponding symplectic toric manifold (X, ω, µ ), the semilocal model of the b-symplectic manifold is M lm = X S 1 R ω lm = ω + c dt t dθ where θ and t are the coordinates on S 1 and R respectively. The S 1 T Z action on M lm given by (ρ, g) (x, θ, t) = (g x, θ + ρ, t) has moment map µ lm (x, θ, t) = (y 0 = t, µ (x)). Eva Miranda (UPC) Singular Symplectic manifolds December 12, 2017 13 / 18
A b-delzant theorem Theorem (Guillemin,M.,Pires, Scott) The maps that send a b-symplectic toric manifold to the image of its moment map and {(M, Z, ω, µ : M b t )} {b-delzant polytopes in b t } (2) {(M, Z, ω, µ : M b t / N )} {b-delzant polytopes in b t / N } (3) are bijections. Toric b-manifolds can be of two types: 1 b T 2 X (with X a toric symplectic manifold of dimension (2n 2)) 2 b S 2 X and manifolds obtained via symplectic cutting (for instance, mcp 2 #ncp 2, with m, n 1). b-integrable systems Definition b-integrable system A set of b-functions a f 1,..., f n on (M 2n, ω) such that f 1,..., f n Poisson commute. df 1 df n 0 as a section of Λ n ( b T (M)) on a dense subset of M and on a dense subset of Z a c log x + g Example The symplectic form 1 hdh dθ defined on the interior of the upper hemisphere H + of S 2 extends to a b-symplectic form ω on the double of H + which is S 2. The triple (S 2, ω, log h ) is a b-integrable system. Example If (f 1,..., f n ) is an integrable system on M, then (log h, f 1,..., f n ) on H + M extends to a b-integrable on S 2 M. Action-angle coordinates for b-integrable systems The compact regular level sets of a b-integrable system are (Liouville) tori. Theorem (Kiesenhofer-M.-Scott) Around a Liouville torus there exist coordinates (p 1,..., p n, θ 1,..., θ n ) : U B n T n such that ω U = c p 1 dp 1 dθ 1 + n dp i dθ i, (4) i=2 and the level sets of the coordinates p 1,..., p n correspond to the Liouville tori of the system. Reformulation of the result Integrable systems semilocally twisted cotangent lift a of a T n action by translations on itself to (T T n ). a We replace the Liouville form by c log p 1 dθ 1 + n i=2 pidθi.
