Deflation at Kīlauea s summit has caused about 5 feet of subsidence, which has stressed local faults leading to numerous magnitude 3 or greater earthquakes, as well as many more smaller ones which are widely felt but haven t produced any significant damage. Volcanic gas emissions remain very high from Fissure 8 eruptions. Trade wind conditions are expected to bring VOG to the south and west sides of the Island of Hawaii.
