MINNESOTA HISTORICAL SOCIETY Minnesota State Archives ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT Land Management Information Center An Inventory of Its Records OVERVIEW OF THE RECORDS Agency: Series Title: Land Management Information Center (Minn.). Dates: 1969-2001. Abstract: Quantity: Location: Records documenting the history, organization, and activities of the Land Management Information Center [LMIC], including development and implementation of the Environmental Planning and Programming Language [EPPL] and Minnesota Land Management Information System [MLMIS]. 4.0 cu. ft. (4 boxes). See Detailed Description section for box locations. SCOPE AND CONTENTS OF THE RECORDS The records are divided into two sections: published items that were originally made available for sale to the public by LMIC in 1978 (as listed in the Land Management Information Center State Planning Agency List of Publications) and materials either not available for sale in 1978 (though many were later published or made available to the public) or supporting data for projects, including early computer tabulations, research notes, and how-to booklets. The published materials (1969-1981) are organized in the order and categories delineated in the publications list and include maps, reports, manuals, technical reports, related papers, and theses. All relate in some way to projects and studies relating to or produced by LMIC. A few contain later dated versions of listed items. The remainder of the files (1970-2001) are arranged chronologically. The majority of the materials document various aspects of land use in the state, including water management, land development, laws, wildlife habitat and natural resources management, mapping, development and use of EPPL and the MLMIS, farmland, recreational areas, history of GIS in the state and LMIC, and population studies.
