OVERVIEW CARD Key Question: Bottom Line: Who is there when you need Him? Jesus is there when I need Him. Memory Verse: Bible Story Focus: I can ask Jesus for help. The Lepers Luke 17:11-19 Coloring Page: Jesus Heals Ten Men Music: Amazing Things I Can Count on God My God is Number One Bible Lesson: Story: God s Story for Me Bible One Man Thanks Jesus Pages 388 to 393 Thank You, God by P.K. Hallinan

ACTIVITY 1 ALL AGES Ten Times Big Idea: Lead the children in a series of 10 different movements (jumping jacks, hopping on one foot, clapping hands, etc.) What You Need: No supplies needed Remind the kids that our Bible story was about 10 men who needed help from Jesus. Have the children gather around you. Call out actions for them to do. Each time you call out an action, count to 10 together as you do each action 10 times. Repeat actions and continue playing as long as the children are having fun. (Suggestions: Hop on two feet, hop on one foot, jumping jack, turn around, take ten steps back, take ten steps forward, pat legs, clap hands, touch the ground, pat head, etc.) *Bring it Back to Jesus After the Activity: There were 10 sick men who asked Jesus for help and He helped them! Jesus healed all their spots! Just like the sick men needed Jesus, you and I need Jesus, too! Who is there when you need Him? Jesus is there when I need Him!

ACTIVITY 2 ALL AGES Walk the Dots Memory Verse Big Idea: Children will walk between plates while the music is playing and freeze when the music stops to say their memory verse. What You Need: Red plates, preschool music CD and CD player Place the plates in a line at least 2 feet apart, so that the children can walk between them. Tell the children that the red plates remind us of the red sores the 10 men had on their body. Start the music and ask the children to start to walk around each plate, in a zig zag pattern. As the children are walking, turn off the music and ask the children to freeze. Have the children say their memory verse and then remove one of the plates and turn the music back on. Have the children resume walking and turn off the music again. Again, ask the children to freeze, say their memory verse and remove another plate. Keep going with the activity until all of the plates are gone. *Bring it Back to Jesus After the Activity: There were 10 sick men who asked Jesus for help and He helped them! Jesus healed all their spots! Just like the sick men needed Jesus, you and I need Jesus, too! Who is there when you need Him? Jesus is there when I need Him!

ACTIVITY 3 ALL AGES Stick It to the Leader Big Idea: Children will place red dot stickers on their volunteer leader. What You Need: Red dot stickers Give each child a strip of 3-4 stickers. Tell the children that the stickers look like spots and review the lesson. Sit or kneel in the middle of the play area with the children around you. FOR 2-3 YEAR OLDS: Let the children place their stickers on you. FOR 4-5 YEAR OLDS: Ask the kids questions about the story. When they answer a question, let them all place a sticker on you. Continue until all of the stickers are gone. Remove the stickers and *Bring it Back to Jesus After the Activity: There were 10 sick men who asked Jesus for help and He helped them! Jesus healed all their spots! Just like the sick men needed Jesus, you and I need Jesus, too! Who is there when you need Him? Jesus is there when I need Him!

CRAFT WEEK 1 Heal the Heart What You Need: Heart Activity Page, 3 Band-Aids, red crayons and/or markers Hold up a heart and remind the children of our memory verse for this month, You are everything I need. Tell the children we are decorating our hearts with band-aids to remind us that Jesus helped the men with sores on their body in our story today. Give each child a heart and red crayons or markers to color their pictures. When they are done coloring, give them 3 band-aids (You will want to remove the wrappers from the Band-Aids for the younger children.) and help them stick the band-aids to their hearts. Ask the children for help in picking up and disposing of the adhesive covers then *Bring it Back to Jesus. After the activity: Great job! There were 10 sick men who asked Jesus for help and He helped them! Jesus healed all their spots! Just like the sick men needed Jesus, you and I need Jesus, too! Who is there when you need Him? Jesus is there when I need Him!

CRAFT WEEK 2 Healing Hands What You Need: Hands Cut Out, Red Dot Markers (or regular markers, crayons, stamp pad), Bottom Line Sticker, Craft Stick & Packing Tape (optional) Tell the children we are making two different hands to remind us of our story today. Give each child a hand picture and red markers/crayons/stamp pad. Show them how to make dots on one side of the hand, and remind them that Jesus helped the men with sores on their body. Turn the hand over to the clean side and help the children place the bottom line sticker on it, talking about how Jesus healed the men. You may tape a craft stick to the dotted side of the hand. *Bring it Back to Jesus by asking the children to wave the hand in the air, saying the bottom line: Jesus is there when I need Him. And Thank you, Jesus! After the activity: Great job! There were 10 sick men who asked Jesus for help and He helped them! Jesus healed all their spots! Just like the sick men needed Jesus, you and I need Jesus, too! Who is there when you need Him? Jesus is there when I need Him!

STORY/PRAYER TIME STORY/PRAYER TIME What you Need: Parent Take Home Card, Storybook Thank You, God, Playdoh, Cookie Cutters, Rolling Pins, and Award Sticker Roll Read: Have the children sit at the table while you read the book, Thank You, God. The Children can either play with playdoh or color the coloring sheet to keep their hands busy while you read. Review: Ask the kids some questions and give them a sticker when they answer. Go from child to child and have them repeat the memory verse for a sticker. Ask the children the Bottom Line question for a sticker. Using the Parent Take Home card, ask each child individually the questions pertaining to this week s lesson and give out a sticker. Pray: Ask the kids to bow their heads and fold their hands while you pray. Here is a sample prayer you can use if you choose: Dear God, we know you are there to help us like you helped the men in our story today. Thank you that you are ALWAYS there when we need your help. We love you, Amen.
