2 Function and features The pressure sensor detects the system pressure. It shows the current system pressure on its display. It generates output signal according to the set output configuration. OUT = switching signal for system pressure. Applications Type of pressure: relative pressure Order no. easuring range Permissible overload pressure Bursting pressure bar PI ) bar PI bar PI PN4220 0...400 0...5 800 600 8 700 000 4 500 PN422 0...250 0...3 630 400 5 800 850 2 300 PN4222 0...00 0... 450 300 4 350 650 9 400 PN4223 0...25 0...363 00 450 350 5 075 PN4224 0...0 0...45 75 088 50 2 75 PN4226 0...2.5 0...36.3 20 290 50 725 mbar PI bar PI bar PI PN4227 0... 000 0...4.5 0 50 30 430 bar inhg bar inhg bar inhg PN4229 -... -30...30 20 590 50 476 ) For units with measuring range > 999 PI /0 of the PI value is displayed. The displayed value must be multiplied by factor 0. Example: displayed value = 5; real value = 5 * 0 = 50 PI. Pa = bar 0 / kpa = bar 00 tatic and dynamic overpressures exceeding the indicated overload pressure are to be avoided by taking appropriate measures. The indicated bursting pressure must not be exceeded. Even if the bursting pressure is exceeded only for a short time, the unit can be destroyed. NOTE: Risk of injury! For gaseous media the application is limited to max. 25 bar. Indication of the current system pressure as from % of the value of the measuring range. Display 0 does not mean that the system is free of pressure! 4
3 Function 3. witching function OUT changes its switching state when the set switching limits have not been reached or have been exceeded (P, rp). The following switching functions can be selected: hysteresis function / normally open: [OU] = [Hno] ( fig. ). hysteresis function / normally closed: [OU] = [Hnc] ( fig. ). First the set point (P) is set, then the reset point (rp) with the requested difference. window function / normally open: [OU] = [Fno] ( fig. 2). window function / normally closed: [OU] = [Fnc] ( fig. 2). The width of the window can be set by means of the difference between P and rp. P = upper value, rp = lower value. P P FE 2 P rp HY P rp 0 0 t Hno Hnc 0 0 t Fno Fnc P = system pressure; HY = hysteresis; FE = window (acceptable range) 4 Installation Before mounting and removing the sensor, make sure that no pressure is applied to the system. Insert the unit in a ¼ NPT process connection. Tighten firmly. 5
5 Electrical connection The unit must only be connected by an electrician. The national and international regulations for the installation of electrical equipment must be observed. Caution: For the output circuit the same protective measures as for the supply circuit must be taken. Insert a miniature fuse according to IEC6027-2 heet ( 5 A fast acting). The permissible potential difference between supply and output circuit is max. 300 V. Disconnect power. Connect the unit as follows: connector view (sensor) 4 3 2 2 3 n.c.
