PLAN Type II Seesaw Particle Spectrum Vacuum Stabilty and. RG evolution of couplings Electroweak precision data (EWPD). enhancement. Conclusion.
A 125 GeV Higgs has been discovered at the LHC. However the Higgs sector is still unknown. Minimal or non-minimal? We already have various BSM phenomenon. Neutrino Oscillations confirms tiny neutrino mass Dark Matter Ω DM h 2 0.11 Matter-antimatter asymmetry To understand these, we need to go beyond the SM.
From Standard Model to New Physcis One major motivations for new physics smallness of neutrino masses Origin can be attributed to a new particle coupling to the lepton doublets of the SM. The type II seesaw mechanism introduces a Higgs triplet whose VEV generates the neutrino masses and mixing. The Higgs sector of the type II seesaw contains four more bosons, H ++, H + and H 0 /A 0, in addition to the SM Higgs boson, h. Higgs triplet couplings can change drastically the stability of the SM electroweak vacuum Hence are quite constrained.
One triplet scalar with hypercharge Y = 1 is included. ( + / ) 2 ++ = 0 + /. 2 The leptonic part of the required to generate neutrino masses is = f αβ L T αciτ 2 L β + H.c. L Y When the neutral component acquires vev, the neutrino gets mass. So, we get M ν = f αβ v.
of type II seesaw The scalar potential is V (Φ, ) = m 2 Φ Φ + λ 1(Φ Φ) 2 + M 2 Tr( ) 2 + λ 2 [Tr( )] + λ3det( ) + λ 4(Φ Φ)Tr( ) [ ] + λ 5(Φ τ iφ)tr( 1 2 τ i ) + µ(φt iτ 2 Φ) + H.c.. Upon EWSB with Φ 0 = v 0/ 2, the µ term gives rise to the vev of the triplet 0 = v / 2 µ term violates lepton number by two units It also protects from the existence of majoron. small µ can be viewed as a soft breaking term for lepton number.
Particle content in type II seesaw Upon EWSB, there are seven physical massive scalar eigenstates denoted by H ±,±, H ±, H 0, A 0, h 0. Under the condition that ξ 1 where ξ v /v 0, the first five states are mainly from the triplet scalar and the last from the doublet scalar. For the neutral pseudoscalar and charged scalar parts, φ 0 I = G 0 2ξA 0, φ + = G + + 2ξH + 0 I = A 0 + 2ξG 0, + = H + 2ξG + for the neutral scalar part, φ 0 R = h 0 aξ H 0, 0 R = H 0 + aξ h 0 For v << v, the mixing between doublet and triplet is very small.

Vacuum conditions The vacuum stability conditions on the scalar couplings λ i are as follows: Arhrib, Benbrik et al PRD 84, 095005 (2010) λ 1 > 0, λ 2 > 0, λ 2 + 1 2 λ3 > 0 λ 4 ± λ 5 + 2 λ 1λ 2 > 0, λ 4 ± λ 5 + 2 λ 1(λ 2 + 1 λ3) > 0. 2 Apart from these conditions, we will put the condition: λ i 4π

Higgs couplings The Higgs triplet couplings are g h H + H + = λ 4 2 v 2 0 M 2 H +, g h H ++ H ++ = λ 4 λ 5 2 v 2 0 M 2 H ++,. SM contribution amounts to about 6.5 in the amplitude, Thus, negative values of λ 4 and λ 4 λ 5 make a constructive interference to enhance the diphoton rate. Vacuum stability condition strongly disfavors negative λ 4 and λ 4 λ 5 Thus, allows more parameter region leading to a destructive interference to reduce the diphoton rate.
We define R γγ = Γ(h γγ)/γ(h γγ) SM Figure: R γγ contours in the λ 4 λ 5 plane.

Neutrino mass genertaion may require a new particle. Higgs triplet may be one candidate. We study parameter space in the scalar couplings allowed by the vacuum stability, and EWPD. We then study the possible deviation in decay within the allowed parameter space We find that about 100%-50% enhancement is possible within a restricted range of parameter space.
