REPORT OF MAGNETOMETER AND VLF-EM SURVEY Claim K60342S Tabor Lake Area Kenora Mining INTRODUCTION SZFWSHBS^ 2. 1528 TABOR LAKE 0 10 The claim is located about 1/2 mile east of the Sandy Point Road 4 1/2 miles south of Borups Corners. The claim covers the eastern portion of the Sakoose Mine. Only a very small production of gold and silver is reported from the claim. The old workings are located near 0 + OOF, C + 50N. The geology of the property has not been mapped. The rock types appear to be tuffs and cherts. Shear zone? and quartz-filled fractures generally striking east-west also occur. A north-south shear zone was observed near 2 + OOE. 0 + 50N. MAGNETOMETER SURVEY The field work and corrections were carried out by Northwest Geophysics of Thunder Bay, Ont. and forwarded to the author. The northwest half of the claim does not show significant magnetic contrast. The southeast half however contains a complex mag netic pattern which appears to be caused by both shear zones and the original magnetic properties of the rock. The steep magnetic gradients in this area are known at least in some cases to represent pyrite and pyrrhotite-bearing shear zones. Examples include the steep gradients on IE 1 + 25N, 2E 0 to 1 + 50N, 3'-; 0 to 0 + 50N, 3E 1 + 25 to 2 + OON, 4E 0 to 2 + OON, 4E 2 + 75 to 3 + 50N, 5E 0 to 1 + 50N and 5E 3 + 50 ~ 4 + 25N. VLF - EM SURVEY The field work was carried out by Northwest Geophysics. Fraser filter was calculated by the author. A distinct conductive zone occurs in tl e northern part of the claim striking east northeast. This zone i s in an area of low magnetic relief. The remaining conductive zones are generally associated with steep magnetic gradients. These are considered to be sulphide-bearing. The conductors associated with low magnetic gradients are most likely due to non-sulphide sources. CONCLUSIONS AND KhCOIvMrNDATIONS Several conductive zones ar-socioted with steep magnetic grad ients occur on the claim. These are interpreted as indicative of sulphide-bearing zones. Geological mapping and prospecting are required to determine The
the source of these, anomalies. Based on these observations the above data can be re-evaluated to determine the optimum techniques for improved anomaly definition. Prepared W. Redden, B. Sc., 317 Vikirjg Cresc., Labrador City, Nfld. A2V 1R6 October 2g,
