21st Century Global Learning A focus for 7th grade is on the ever-increasing global interactions in society. This focus includes a study of various societies and regions from every continent. We have already started to understand how culture unites and divides modern societies and how cultural expressions influence modern society. This We are the World study will provide each student an opportunity to apply the 4 C s of learning: critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity. Students has been randomly assigned a country to research. We want them to become an expert in their assigned country. Each student will: Part 1: Create a decorative country (paper) plate (early October) Part 2: Create a Tri-Fold Presentation Board (Late October) Part 3: Light Up the Night Activity (Late November) Time management, organization, researching skills and avoiding plagiarism will be emphasized throughout the quarter. Rubrics will be assigned for each activity.

Country Tri-Fold Board Part 2 When: This project board will be presented on: October 31, 2018. Because this is a month-long project, no deadlines will be extended beyond the due date. Plan accordingly. How: You will be given some time in class to research but may need more time outside of class to continue research. You will be using the Five Themes of Geography to guide your learning. 1. Region-continent, landforms, landmarks, square miles, elevation 2. Place- government type (and its leader), major religions, climate, languages, arts, cultural norms 3. Location-approximate latitude and longitude, major cities, capital, tourist attractions 4. Movement-transportation, exports and industries, famous people; ideas 5.
