Lunations and Long Term Aspects This month the Full Moon is in Aries; those of you born within a day or so of March 31 will notice this more than others. Remember that a Full Moon indicates a culmination and in your 1st House this implies that you have entered a new phase as a person. The aspects giving this lunation its unique character provide a few hints on where these changes hail from. One obvious aspect pattern that jumps off the chart is a Yod or Finger of God between your Sign Ruler, Mars, along with Mercury and Neptune. Mars is in Cancer, your 4th House of home environment, which has brought a lot of energy to this part of your life. This could manifest as the drive to get a lot of work done around the house, confronting issues with family members, or possibly the need for a few repairs, especially last month while Mercury was retrograde. It was also a favorable time to rethink and/or discuss old issues. Thank heavens he went direct the end of September, so the worst of that should be over though things won't be entirely back to normal until the middle of this month when he overtakes the zodiacal position where he initially went retrograde, thus exiting the "shadow period." Meanwhile, back to that Yod, the base comprises Mars and Mercury, the latter of which who s in your 6th House of work, health and pets. This includes your day job as well as any activities you're pursuing on your own; anything that keeps you busy and occupied. Mercury is all about data and communications which is why retrograde periods are good for rethinking and re-planning. If you felt stuck in this area this last month that is why. Also note that your buddy, Mars, is not particularly at home in soggy Cancer. If you felt lacking in energy and vitality during that time, then that is likely the reason. In other words, lately neither of those planets has been very supportive. However, as part of this Yod with them sextiling one another, the energy flow should improve plus you can look forward to Mars entering fellow Fire Sign, Leo, on the 16th, essentially the same time Mercury comes out of its shadow period. This aspect bodes well for getting things done at home that may have lagged a bit the last month or so. Mars and Mercury are quincunx Neptune, forming the Yod. A quincunx calls for an adjustment or change of course, often due to being in a Catch-22 situation. Neptune is in Aquarius, your 11th House of organizations, friends, group activities as well as your hopes, wishes, and goals. Neptune can be inspiring or he can be delusional. In this particular house he could be holding up a pair of rose-colored glasses or promising a variety of pie in the sky type things that may sound feasible in a perfect world but not on this one. Whatever you are aiming or working for thus may be too idealistic or out of touch with reality. Earlier in the month this quincunx involved the asteroid, Chiron, the wounded healer, which could have provided some news that offered a sanity check that had a very disappointing effect. If that's the case, this lunation is providing you with a nudge to look at those goals again and adjust them accordingly. This could also relate to your coworkers or organizational ties, which may not be coming through for you as expected. Aries tend to be independent so adjusting to this situation should come quite easily. At any rate, it's time to get on the right track. 2
Mars is in a harmonious trine with Uranus, planet of sudden change and disruptions, who's camped out in your 12th House of inspiration, dreams, confinement, hidden enemies, self-undoing, and institutions. While a trine is usually a positive aspect, this is not always the case. It only means that the energy between the subject entities is flowing smoothly; if that energy isn't in your favor this is not a good thing. You can't trust Uranus because you never quite know what he's up to, so I'd watch my back. This could just as easily bring something good your way but I wouldn't take that for granted, especially since Uranus is opposing Mercury, which could bring some unexpected news your way. The good news is that Mars, Uranus and Mercury are forming another aspect pattern known as a Triangle of Potential and in this case it puts you in the driver's seat since Mars is the apex. This gives you the opportunity to be in control of the situation, which always feels good to any Cardinal Sign, but especially Aries. Note that Saturn is also opposite Uranus, which bodes for a tug-o-war between stability and your responsibilities versus breaking free from any confining situations. Another possibility is a confrontation with your boss; Uranus in your house of self-undoing could present a problem so put the brakes on that Aries impulsiveness and think your actions through or you may not like the result. Another aspect to watch is Saturn squaring Pluto in your 10th House of career, reputation and public image. Saturn is all about responsibility, obligations and authority figures while Pluto is about power, ridding ourselves of old, worn-out elements in our life, and dealing with old issues we've buried because we didn't want to confront them. With Saturn in your House of work and Pluto in your House of career in a hard aspect like a square you can expect some sort of crisis to deal with in this area. Again, look before you leap as this somewhat volatile situation could stir up a few problems. However, there are some favorable ties with the lunar nodes, which indicate changes to your life and its direction. Navigate these situations carefully and think them through and you should land on your feet, which Aries tend to do quite well. There's another quincunx between Venus and Jupiter, both of whom are benefic, and also indicate that the changes and adjustments that are coming will ultimately be beneficial, so call upon that Fire Sign optimism to guide you. You will have a tendency to follow your heart at this time and that is usually a good thing as well. There will be some emphasis on your close relationships this month as the Sun cruises through Libra, your 7th House, and these will undoubtedly tie into the various situations that arise as well. The New Moon on the 18th falls in Libra, your 7th House of close relationships, indicating something new is coming to this part of your life. This is further reinforced by a quincunx to Uranus, indicating adjustments to your dreams in this area though with quirky Uranus involved it could also indicate breaking free from a confining relationship. Remember that relationships in the astrological sense involve all close relationships including close friends and relatives, significant others, business partners, cliental if you're in business for yourself, and anyone else with whom you have a one-onone relationship. There are some nice, friendly trines between the New Moon and 3
Neptune, which indicate favorable developments regarding your heart-felt goals. Your Sign Ruler, Mars, is quincunx Pluto, which could create a Catch-22 between you and those authority figures. This energy can also be applied to your creativity and selfexpression as it relates to your career or status. Other possibilities include pursuing a speculative venture based on previously hidden information. Research should thus pay off at this time. Your Sign Ruler, who by now has entered Leo, should increase your energy and is beckoning you in a new direction so pay attention. It's time for a change and you probably know where that should occur. Short Term/Daily Aspects October 1: Expect opportunities to gather information or encounter news that relates to projects or issues at home. An excellent time to make some detailed plans as your ability to capture needed details will be sharper than ever today. October 4: Full Moon as described above. October 8-9: If you need to consult with someone about their responsibilities, particularly as or with an authority figure, the 8th is an excellent day to do so. This time is also favorable for mapping out or defining any projects you have in-work or would like to start. Be open to innovative ideas, particularly as they relate to making money, though this may necessitate a few adjustments elsewhere. Mercury goes into Libra on the 9th, which will facilitate communications in your relationships. October 10: A very favorable day for expanding upon a casual relationship and getting to know someone better or on a different level. It could also provide a chance to expand upon your goals through networking with someone you already know well. One thing to look out for, however, is communicating with authority figures who could cause you some grief. There's also a chance you may find out something that has been buried or hidden that affects your career or status in some way. October 12-13: An excellent time for putting your nose to the grindstone and getting something done at home. Hard work will feel good and you should have the perseverance you need to make considerable progress. October 14-15: Venus goes into Libra on the 14th, which will enhance your relationships. Any old baggage related to a female you are or were close to may come out at this time as well. If there is something old or worn out in your life that you'd do well to ditch, give it serious thought. This goes primarily for opinions and attitudes toward your career, reputation or public image though there could be a relationship tied into it as well. There's a good chance it's time to let go of something. October 16: Your Sign Ruler, Mars, goes into Leo today which should renew your energy and jump-start your ambition, particularly as it relates to your creativity and selfexpression. Unexpected changes or surprise events that affect one or more close 4
relationships will call for some adjustments. Don't overreact but measure the facts carefully as you're likely to not be seeing things as they really are. October 18: New Moon today as described above. October 20: Expanding your associations or circle of friends or coworkers should go well today. Discussing your goals with someone close to you should also be fruitful and encouraging. October 23-24: The Sun goes into Scorpio, your 8th House of transformations, on the 23rd. Think about past years and any significant events that have occurred during this this time that had a major effect on your life, then look around you for what is happening now. During this timeframe the Sun is sextile Pluto which will provide some more insights into your career or public image issues and anything you've been ignoring in this part of your life. If you're honest with yourself and give it deep thought you can come up with some "Aha" moments that will help define your future. You imagination will be in high gear and provide some inspiration but be aware of the line between vision and illusion. October 28: Mercury goes into Scorpio today, reinforcing your ability to see beneath the surface and identify things in your life that need to change, particularly in that career/reputation/status venue. Talk about your goals with someone you care about, who should be able to provide additional ideas for expanding upon your long-term goals. October 29: There may be something you need to change but your ego is putting up a tremendous battle. Be honest with yourself or it's going to hold you back. You know what you need to do but are resisting for some reason. Look at it carefully and decide whether or not it's worth hanging onto. Believe it or not, sometimes we win more in the long-run by conceding, especially if you're beating a dead horse.
