More reliable in transition-metal-catalyzed reactions: copper-catalyzed: aryl/vinyl/alkylboronic acids; silver-catalyzed: aliphatic carboxylic acids. More electrophilic and more efficient for direct trifluoromethylthiolation of nucleophiles : amines, alcohols, thiols, and electron-rich arenes. 25
