Midwest Region Geographical Features: Landlocked, plains, farmland Known as America s Heartland because of its vast lands of farmland and its in the middle of the Rocky and Appalachian Mountains. Residents have adapted to this region as they have farmed wheat, oats, and corn and thus, the region is named as the Breadbasket of America.
Southwest Region Geographical Features: A wide-open area of mostly deserts, mountains, plateaus, and plains as well as the semiarid to arid climate presents a variety of challenges to the development of the area.
Northwest Region Geographical Features: Rocky Mountains, deserts, grasslands, coastal This region is the wettest part of all regions while temperatures in Washington and Oregon remain mild throughout the year.
