Quadratic Functions Word Scramble Graphing Quadratics / Key Features Objective: In this activity, students calculate key features of quadratic functions (axis of symmetry, vertex, y-intercept) and graph their parabola. How it works: The activity includes six full quadratics, each of which have four key features (AOS, vertex, y-intercept, and f(x)). Students find each key feature, then look for their answer in the answer bank for that problem. Each correct answer unlocks a new letter they ll use to spell a hidden word. For example, the first problem unlocks (M, S, E, S, which they ll unscramble to spell MESS). Together, the words from each problem will spell a crazy sentence. If they get the right crazy sentence, you know they did it right! Note: All solutions are integers! Directions: This works well as an individual or stations activity. Two versions are included in this download one that s ready to print-and-go for individual use and another that s ready to print-and-post as a stations activity. Here are the directions for each: Individual (pages 3 and 4). Just print and share! This works great as a classwork or homework activity, and the answer bank lets students check their work along the way. Students also love the crazy sentences! Stations (pages 6 through 9). Just print each question and post them around the room. Students should need just 3-5 minutes per station. The stations version has an optional student response sheet where students can record all their answers.
