COLLEGE CREDIT CHEMISTRY LECTURE 0.8 Credit COLLEGE CREDIT CHEMISTRY LABORATORY 0.2 Credit Fee Required Chemistry OR Chemistry 1 with instructor consent and Overall GPA 3.0 or higher and Acceptable score on entrance exam ADVANCED SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH Grade: 11, 12 Biology College Credit Chemistry is the equivalent of Chemistry 211 and Chemistry 213 at UW-GB. Students who successfully complete the courses according to UW-GB standards earn 5 college credits at UW- GB (4 lecture/1 laboratory). These two courses must be registered for simultaneously. The course fee is approximately $550, but the exact tuition is not determined until late summer. The first half of tuition is due by June 1 st and the balance is due September 15 th. Topics covered: chemical foundations, atomic structure, molecules and ions, stoichiometry, reaction types, gases, thermo-chemistry, bonding, liquids and solids, solution chemistry Course #: 410254 & 410255 Last updated 10/22/09 Headed to college for a science career? Do you love science and math? Would you like to compete for scholarships and prizes? This course is designed to lead students to prepare a research project to enter in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) competition. The regional ISEF competition is held each year at Lakeland College in February and winners of this competition win a trip to the National competition in California to compete for a scholarship. Students will use class hours to research, design, and execute an inquiry based project. The project requires students to design and complete an experiment investigating a research area of their choice. To report their results, students must keep a data notebook for the semester, write an abstract and research paper, create a presentation board per specifications, and complete an interview at the competition explaining their research.
