Interdisciplinary Physics Example Cgnate Plans The Interdisciplinary Physics cncentratin allws students substantial flexibility t define the thematic fcus f their study. This flexibility cmes with a respnsibility; each student must wrk with a physics cncentratin cunselr t define a cgnate curse plan when declaring the IP cncentratin. The plans defined at this early stage serve as the basis fr yur final path and will likely evlve as yu learn mre and understand better where yu want t g with yur degree. T help with this prcess, and t illustrate the range f ptins available within this cncentratin, we prvide here a set f example cgnate plans. Each is meant t illustrate hw a student fcusing in a particular area might best prepare themselves fr the future. They are nly examples, and we expect mst students will define their wn unique cgnate plans. The parameters: Prerequisites fr Declaring an IP Cncentratin (Effective Fall 2011) Interdisciplinary Physics Cncentratin Prpsal Math curses up thrugh Math 216 (Differential Equatins) r the equivalent One f the fllwing intrductry sequences and labs 135/136 & 235/236 (Life Sciences) 140/141 & 240/241 (General Physics) 160/161 & 260/261 (Hnrs mre in depth, smaller class size) Physics 340/341 Physics 351 IP Cncentratin Requirements The Interdisciplinary Physics prgram requires at least 24 credits, including at least 9 in Physics curses numbered 390 and abve. A cncentratin plan must include the fllwing: Physics 390 (can be taken cncurrently with Physics 401 r 405) Tw additinal Physics curses at the 400 level and beynd Physics 390 and these 400-level Physics curses must be cmpleted with a minimum grade f a C- in each curse and a cumulative average f C r higher Fifteen credits f cgnate curses as part f an Interdisciplinary plan designed with an advisr during an advising appintment.
