Quad based imagery download function of the Clearinghouse is no longer available. The imagery is still accessible via Imagery web services at: http://maps.itos.uga.edu/arcgis/rest/services, you just won t be storing the data locally. If you re connecting through ArcCatalog, you can access the services at: http://maps.itos.uga.edu/arcgis/services. Here is a how-to document that will step you through the connection process: https://data.georgiaspatial.org/help/chouse_webservices.pdf. If you re running an ArcGIS version prior to 9.3, you ll have to use the WMS option there s a compatibility issue between Image Server 9.3 and pre-9.3 clients. From the Clearinghouse Data Search page, click the Services link and then select Imagery: http://maps.itos.uga.edu/arcgis/rest/services. Click an imagery service, CIR1999IS for example, and at the bottom, next to Supported Interfaces, click WMS. Once you ve done this, copy everything in the URL prior to the question mark. For example, for the CIR1999IS service the URL is: http://maps.itos.uga.edu/arcgis/services/imagery/cir1999is/imageserver/wmsserver. Then, in ArcCatalog under GIS Servers, click Add WMS Server and paste the URL in the box. Click OK and the service will be added. Also, county extent imagery from the USDA s NAIP flight is available for direct download from the Clearinghouse Data Search page at https://data.georgiaspatial.org. Just run a search where Layer = Imagery and Originator = U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Subject: RE: file attached, 1956 Topo w/modern Roads Karen, Do you have any sense on what the error +/ X feet on this? Thanks
Subject: National Map Accuracy Standards RE: file attached, 1956 Topo w/modern Roads This United States Department of the Interior Geological Survey map is imprinted This map complies with National Map Accuracy Standards. for horizontal accuracy, not more than 10 percent of the points tested are in error by more than 1/30 inch at scale 1:24000 for vertical accuracy, not more than 10% of the elevations tested are in error more than ½ the contour interval. The printed contour interval is 20 feet, so not more than 10% of the elevations tested are in error more than 10 ft.
67 ft. Technical jargon follows: The scale of the original USGS topo map is 1:24000. This means that when the USGS topo map is printed at the original size, one printed inch represents 2000 feet of ground surface distance. (Because 24000/12 inches = 2000). for horizontal accuracy, not more than 10 percent of the points tested are in error by more than 1/30 inch at scale 1:24000 The math: 24000/12 = 2000 1/30 inch on paper printed at 1:24000 represents 66.66 ft ground surface. Because 2000/30 = 66.66 I originally provided a georeferenced map where the scale was set at 1:5280, so that paper map printed gives one inch represents 440 ft ground surface distance. The question is now, how much of that printed paper represents 66.66 feet? About 1/6 inch.
