EMA 4125: Transport Phenomena in Materials Processing 1. Catalog Description - Credits: 3; Science and application of momentum, heat and mass transport in materials and materials processing 2. Prerequisites Pre-req: EMA 3010 and MAP 2302. 3. Course Objectives: This course will cover general areas of solid state diffusion, heat conduction and radiation, fluid dynamics and heat and mass transfer. The focus of the course will be to understand the fundamentals related to processing of materials. 4. Contribution of Course meeting the professional content: This is required course for graduation in Materials Science and Engineering 5. Relationship to Program Outcomes; 1. Understanding of the global, societal, and environmental impact of engineering solutions. 2. Knowledge of contemporary issues. 6. The final grades are as follows: Homework 10 % Take home - 25% Exam (20% x 3) 60% Class Attendance 5%

A C- will not be a qualifying grade for critical tracking courses. In order to graduate, students must have an overall GPA and an upper-division GPA of 2.0 or better (C or better). Note: a C- average is equivalent to a GPA of 1.67, and therefore, it does not satisfy this graduation requirement. Make-up Exam Policy: Make-up exam will only be permitted in instances if the student is unable to take the exam because of special circumstances beyond his control. 19.
