Weather Review A measures dew point and relative humidity. What is another name for the DRY BULB? Why is the wet bulb NEVER higher than the dry bulb? What is the dew point? What is the relative humidity? What is the relative humidity when the temperature equals the dew point? Lines of equal temperature are called. Draw and label the 30 F, 40 F, and 50 F isotherms on the map. Be sure the lines extend to the edge of the map. What is a possible temperature of location A?

Label location A with either the word HIGH or LOW. Draw in the direction of flow around that pressure system. (Use three arrows.) Label location C with either the word HIGH or LOW. Draw in the direction of flow around that pressure system. (Use three arrows.) What is a possible air pressure at location D? Convert that to inches of mercury. Which letter is experiencing the highest wind speed? How can you determine that by looking at the map? Temperature= Dew Point = Air Pressure= Visibility= Wind Direction= Wind Speed= Cloud Cover= Present Weather = Amount of Precipitation=

Label the center of the low with an L. Draw in the COLD FRONT. Draw in the WARM FRONT. Draw in the OCCLUDED FRONT. Using a large arrow, draw the direction the low pressure system will move over the next hours. What does cp stand for and where does it originate? What does mt stand for and where does it originate? What three weather variables are shown on each station model on the map? What kind of front is shown? Draw the map symbol for that type of front. Describe the rainfall pattern at this front. Why are clouds forming along the front? Use words like condense, dew point, cool, expand and rise.

What is the name of this type of storm? What conditions are favorable for the formation of this storm? Draw three arrows to show the wind pattern around this storm. List at least three safety precautions you and your family could take to prevent loss of property or life. Label the following map with mp, cp, ct and mt.

Plot the following data on the map provided. Uses an X to mark each date and connect them with a solid line. Use a dotted line to show the projected path of the hurricane after September 15. What is the relationship between pressure and wind speed? What ocean current could hurricanes take to reach Long Island?

The lighthouse records a temperature of 36 F and a air pressure of mb. Use the blank station model below to fill in the following information: Present Weather Dew Point Air Pressure Wind Direction Wind Speed 36 Fill in the proper front symbol on the diagram below. Place an X on a map where the mt air could have originated.

Climate Review Label the windward, leeward, hot/dry location, cool/moist location and cloud location. Why will the leeward side of the mountain have a dry climate with a large yearly/daily temperature range? Draw and label the short wave visible light and the long wave infrared energy. Why has carbon dioxide in the atmosphere accelerated the greenhouse effect?

Evaporation Transpiration Precipitation Color the runoff arrow in RED. Color the infiltration arrow in BLUE Which tube has the greater permeability? Which tube has a greater capillarity? Porosity Tube A Tube B What happens to the porosity if beads from tube A are mixed with beads from tube B?

Mapping Review What is the highest possible point on the map? What is a possible surface elevation of Lake Lachawanna? Which general direction is Maple Stream flowing? How can the shape of the contour lines determine the direction of flow? How can you tell the southern side of Holland Hill is steep by only looking at the contour lines?

Draw the profile of line AB Connect the following isotherms, 20 C, 22 C and 24 C. Be sure the lines extend to the edge of the field. Determine the gradient from point A to point B. Formula Substitute with units Solve with proper units

What is the approximate latitude and longitude of point Y?, Label 15 S, 105 W with a Label 30 N 30 W with a If it is 1 am at location, what time is it a location? Elevations in feet Which direction is the Green River flowing? What is the elevation of A? What is the highest possible elevation of D? What is the gradient between points G and H?

Dynamic Crust Which location is near the San Andreas Fault? Which location is located on the Aleutian Trench? Which location is located on a hot spot? Name the hot spot. Which location is not likely to experience an earthquake? Why is the likelihood so low? Draw in and label the Mid Atlantic Ridge. What happens to the age of the bedrock as you move from location G to location H? How far is location B from the epicenter? How far is location C from the epicenter? How can you tell location B is farther from the epicenter by simply looking at the seismographs?

What type of plate boundary is represented in the diagram? Name this specific plate boundary. Label with a series of X s where earthquakes would occur. Describe what is happening at location 1. Describe what is happening at location 2. Describe what is happening at location 3. Describe what is happening at location 4.

Atmospheric Energy The boxes below are filled with water and have a small piece of copper place at the bottom. If the Bunsen burners are turned on, draw the proper convection currents that will form. Explain why the convection current behave the way they do. Explain why the copper will heat fast while the water will take much longer to heat up. Assuming equal masses of each substance, why will the water heat and cool the slowest? Which of the following samples will heat the fastest? Why? What is the mineral composition of the Basaltic sand?

Astronomy Review What is the eccentricity of the ellipse? Formula: Substitute: Answer: Rounded to the thousandths How does the eccentricity of this ellipse compare to all of the planets in our solar system? What day of the year is shown in this diagram? On the diagram, shade in the night portion. On the diagram, draw the latitude where the sun will be directly overhead on that date. What will happen to the length of this shadow on June 21? What will happen to the length of this shadow on Dec.21? What other date will the shadow be the same as shown?

If this picture was taken at noon in New York State, which direction is the man facing? Name the phase of the moon shown in position 1. Why do we see the phases of the moon? How long does it take the moon to orbit the Earth? Put a around the first quarter moon. Put a around the waning cresant phase. Describe the tidal range during a spring tide. If this constellation is the Big Dipper, use an arrow to draw a line to show where Polaris would be. How can Polaris help determine your latitude?

Which location is the Earth traveling fastest in its orbit? Which position is June 21? What latitude is the sun directly over at position A? On the orbit, label with an X the month of MAY What is the date shown on the diagram? Which location on Earth will receive 0 hours of daylight? What happens to the amount of daylight hours as you travel from location B to location C? Which location will receive the direct rays from the sun? On the diagram label with a where a solar eclipse will occur. On the diagram label with a where a lunar eclipse will occur.

Draw the path of the sun on March 21 Draw the path of the sun on September 23 with a maximum sun angle of 59 degrees at the equator. Draw Polaris if you are on Long Island. Label on the path of the sun 3 pm Label on the path of the sun 9 am Draw the paths of the sun on December 21 and June 21 in Oswego. Draw the path of the sun on June 21 at the Tropic of Cancer. Label Polaris as well. Label noon on both paths of the sun Label with an X the two places where your shadow would be the longest
