2 Weather can change rapidly Slippery roads Snow and Ice Low Visibility During snowfall or icy conditions, Everett Transit may place specific routes on snow routes. Use this book as a guide so you can plan your trips if snow routes go into effect. How snow routes work: 1. Snow routes will be determined on a route by route basis, which means one route may be assigned a snow route while the other routes are operating normally. 2. Each affected route will be assigned a letter, or indicating which section of the route will be affected. For example: Route 3 has two sections of roadway where snow accumulation compromises safety. During snow events, we may announce that Route 3 South is operating Snow, Snow, or both. 3. Once declared, a snow route will remain in effect for at least four hours. 4. Route information will be updated on EverettTransit.org and Facebook.com/Everett.Transit, and can also be accessed via our customer service phone line at Routes OT included in this booklet have no assigned snow route and are expected to operate on their normal route. 77Please be aware that snow and icy conditions may cause delays to bus service even if routes are operating normally. 77Do OT use Everett Transit rrivals (ET) when snow routes are in place. 3 Snow Safety Tips Take an earlier trip. uses move only as quickly as traffic allows. Consider taking an earlier bus to ensure that you arrive at your destination on time. Play it safe. uses may slide on snow as they approach the stop. Stay back from the curb until the bus comes to a complete stop. e visible. Especially on dark winter mornings, it s important that you make yourself visible to an approaching bus. Wear light-color clothing and signal your presence with a small blinker light or flashlight. Step carefully. us steps and sidewalks become slippery from snow. Use the handrails when entering and exiting. Kick the snow from your shoes before stepping on the bus. Dress warmly. Put on an extra layer even a short wait at your stop can be dangerous if you re not dressed for the weather. Make sure to wear your jacket, hat, mittens and boots. Pack a little patience. Remember that your driver is doing his or her best to make sure you arrive at your destination safely.
