Market Analyst Paul Burgener offers details below. Please use the authentication address farmfutures@farmprogres.ccsend.com Sincerely, Bryce Knorr & Paul Burgener Farm Futures Featured Story CFTC Reauthorization Hearing Scheduled for Wednesday Senate Ag Committee also releases input from stakeholders regarding the Commodity Futures Trading Commission Check Out The BUZZ Click above to see the latest episode - July 11, Old crop USDA inventories are bullish, but big acres all around 1

hurt new crop - a look at the USDA report. Follow us on Twitter at Bull Bear Fundamentals Explained Soybeans are Lone Bright Spot in Grain Markets Our bull/bear index strengthened this week for corn and wheat, while soybeans slip a little. Corn improved to a slightly less bearish 2.0 from 1.75 this week, with a 3.0 being neutral, as fund buying power has increased based on their record net short position held in this market. Wheat bumped from a 2.5 to a neutral 3.0 this week after a bump in seasonal patterns for bullish movement into mid- October has strengthened this market. Soybeans dropped this week from 2.0 to a more bearish 1.75 after seasonal patterns that point to lower prices through the middle of October have the market a little more bearish. Stocks traded slightly higher following Friday's run to record levels. Citigroup reported earnings above expectations and the Empire State manufacturing index from the New York Fed came in at a 5-month high. Retail sales increased by 0.4% in June to $422.8 billion, a disappointment to the market that was expecting 0.8% growth. The major stock indexes were from 0.1% to 0.3% higher at the commodity close. The dollar index was higher today after making gains against the euro and yen. Crude oil prices increased slightly on the day as economists begin to caution about growth concerns with higher oil prices. Corn traded lower today despite better than expected export inspections and another large export sale reported by USDA. Export inspections nearly doubled from the previous week in this morning's report with million bushels inspected for shipment. USDA reported another sale of 4.7 million bushels of 2013/2014 corn sold to unknown destinations. Warmer than normal temperatures are forecast for the upper Midwest this week, with 35% of the Corn Belt showing some concern for heat and dry weather in the short term forecast. Tasseling is well underway in many corn fields, so high temperatures and dry weather could have an impact over the next few weeks. Crop progress is due out this afternoon with a small drop in conditions expected, based on recent weather in the Midwest. September corn futures were down 9.25 to $ December corn was down 5.75 on the day to close at $ Bottom line: Weather is beginning to show up in the markets, moving new crop futures back over the $5 level.look for any opportunities to capture needed preharvest sales on weather rallies to the $5.25 or higher range through the summer. Corn Strategy: ALERT: We recommend putting a bear spread on 25% of 2013 corn production to protect basis on grain that must be sold at harvest. Sell December 2013 futures and buy July 14 futures to complete the spread. We assume 50% commercial and 50% on-farm storage. We recommended being done with the pricing of 2012 inventory by the end of October, at an average of $7.08. We previously recommended selling 40% of 2013 crop at an average December futures price of $

Soybeans traded higher today as export inspections increased from 2.48 million bushels last week to 3.67 million bushels this week. Inspections remain 3% higher than a year ago, but look to be running a bit short of USDA projections for the year. The National Oilseed Producers Association released the crush report today with million bushels crushed June, up 1.6% on the year. Weather in the western Midwest is starting to get a little hot and dry, bringing some added strength to the soybean market to start the week. Crop condition will be reported in this afternoon's crop progress report. August soybeans closed up today at $ The November soybean contract was up 6.50 to close at $ Bottom line: Tight supplies and planting issues are still playing into soybean prices. New crop soybeans are staying above the $12.50 level on weather concerns. Prices may bounce back later in the summer if weather stays hot and dry or export sales continue to increase. Old crop soybeans are pushing $16, presenting cash opportunity to move any remaining beans above $16 in many locations. Soybean Strategy: We recommended pricing remaining 2012 inventory, bringing the average futures price for the crop to $ We also previously recommended pricing 30% of 2013 production at an average price of $ Wheat traded lower today as the wheat market followed corn lower. Export inspections remain strong with million bushels inspected last week. The pace remains well ahead of last year, and the 5-year average. Harvest continued nearly uninterrupted in the Plains as hot dry weather has been the norm for most of the region. Drier weather across much of the Midwest has allowed soft red wheat harvest to progress better this week, before more showers move in later in the week. Crop progress is expected to show big gains on winter wheat harvest and a possible bump for spring wheat crop condition. September 2013 wheat on the Chicago board was down to close at $ The July 2014 contract closed the day down 9 to finish at $ September 2013 KC wheat was down 7.50 to close at $7.01. The July 2014 winter wheat contract was down 7.25 to finish at $ September 2013 Minneapolis wheat was down today to close at $7.55. The September 2014 contract was down 5.75 to close at $7.89. Bottom line: Wheat markets are pricing weather and export sales as the 2013 crop harvest is making its way north. Look for opportunities to complete more wheat sales as harvest moves north and wheat yields are reported. Wheat Strategy: We previously recommended pricing 100% of the 2012 soft red winter wheat crop at $7.91. Growers using Kansas City priced 100% of remaining inventory at an average price of $8.10. Growers using Minneapolis priced 100% for an average price of $8.77. We previously recommended pricing 35% of 2013 winter wheat production at $7.67 Chicago September and $7.95 Kansas City September. We previously recommended pricing 35% of spring wheat at $8.19 Minneapolis September. Revenue Protection crop insurance should provide a backstop on remaining production for now. 3

Wheat remains the big mover in this week's export inspection report with shipments running a full 20% ahead of this time last year. Another strong week was reported for the wheat market with million bushels inspected. Corn inspections nearly doubled from the previous week with million bushels inspected for shipment. Soybean inspections remain slow on limited supplies and prices above $16. Brazil and Argentina were mostly dry over the weekend with a few showers in southeastern Brazil bringing the bulk of any moisture. Late Thursday and Friday of this week will bring the best chances of moisture for central Brazil, while most of Argentina is likely to remain dry through the next several days as a drier, cooler pattern settles in. Brazil looks most likely to pick up coastal showers in the early part of the 1 to 5 day forecast with wider areas receiving ranis late in the week. The dry weather pattern in Argentina is expected to continue with some stress to the wheat crop beginning to show up. 4

Heavier rains are forecast through central Brazil in the 6 to 10 day outlook, but most of Argentina remains in a dry pattern. Isolated rains could fall on the Argentine coast in this period.
