1 Tropical Activity Atlantic Hurricane Florence (CAT 4) As of 8 a.m. ET Tuesday, Florence's center had maximum sustained winds of 130 mph and was about 950 miles east-southeast of Cape Fear, North Carolina. Florence is still a Category 4 hurricane, though it is going through an internal process called an "eyewall replacement cycle" whereby it weakens temporarily, expands into a bigger hurricane and then re-strengthens. The current peak winds are estimated at 130 mph -- Category 4 strength. It has warmer ocean water and optimal atmospheric conditions ahead of it, which means more strengthening is likely. In addition, Florence is expected to expand in size over the next two days. Widespread coastal destruction is expected to be phase one of this disaster. Life-threatening storm surges -- up to 12 feet -- along the coasts and up to 30 inches of rain over parts of the Carolinas and Virginia through Saturday. and local officials in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia have ordered about 1.5 million people to evacuate a lengthy stretch of coastline ahead of Hurricane Florence's potentially catastrophic landfall, which is expected Thursday. o Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, D, on Monday evening ordered the evacuation of roughly a quarter of a million people from sections of the Eastern Shore, Virginia Beach, Hampton, Norfolk and the Middle Peninsula starting Tuesday morning. o South Carolina: Mandatory evacuations for all zones in all coastal counties (Horry, Georgetown, Berkeley, Dorchester, Charleston, Colleton, Beaufort & Jasper Counties) o North Carolina: Mandatory evacuations for Currituck County, Dare County, Hyde County, New Hanover County, Pamlico and Topsail Beach. Voluntary evacuations for Bertie County, Brunswick County & Onslow County. 1

3 Central Pacific Tropical Storm Olivia 320 miles ENE of Hilo, HI Moving W at 10 mph; maximum sustained winds 65 mph Tropical storm force winds extend 150 miles Gradual weakening over the next 2 days; forecast to be tropical storm upon reaching Hawaii Tropical Storm Warnings in effect for Maui, Hawaii & Oahu Counties Tropical Storm Watch in effect for Kauai County Western Pacific Super Typhoon Mangkhut Located 380 miles W of Guam Typhoon Mangkhut (26W) has passed Guam and CNMI Governor Declared ALL CLEAR (typhoon conditions) for the islands of Saipan, Tinian and Rota All airports open and at normal operations with exception of Rota airport which will conduct day operations only Rota has island-wide power outage (intentional shutdown), Tinian has 80% power, Saipan 80%, Guam 70% While all the Marianas were on high alert, in the end it was Rota that took a direct hit. Residents there are in recovery mode, but federal help is on the way. At least eight families in Rota will remain in shelters for about a week, while repairs to a few government buildings will have to be made, there were also no casualties. Relief is already on the way as less than 24 hours after CNMI Governor Torres requested for a federal declaration of an emergency, President Trump approved the request.
