They are flat on the bottom and domed shape on top. These are fair weather clouds. Cirrus clouds feathery wisps and curls made of ice crystals. These clouds are high in the sky. Altostratus clouds are neither high clouds or low clouds. They form a cloud layer of water droplets. Stratus clouds are like a blanket of clouds. They carry steady rain or drizzle. Sometimes they drop to the ground and it becomes fog. Nimbostratus clouds are dark gray clouds. They give us hours of rain or snow. Cirrostratus clouds are very high clouds. They are made of ice crystals. Cumulonimbus clouds are storm clouds. With these clouds come rain, lightning, thunder, and tornadoes. They billow up into the sky. Altocumulus clouds are medium high clouds that look like flattened cumulus clouds. They are almost all joined together. 2

They appear in rows in the sky. Stratocumulus clouds are formed when cumulus clouds spread into long rolls. These long rolls show that fair weather is coming. 3
