3 AOV Brief History Background for AOV Establishment Europe - EVGA (European VLBI Group for Geodesy and Astrometry) - Subgroup of IVS, but active since 1980, i.e., before the establishment of IVS - Six EURO sessions per year - Biyearly meeting, participants from outside of Europe - Large, active, and close collaboration Asia-Oceania (before AOV) - Organization-based activities - Domestic sessions in each countries Motivation for AOV

4 AOV Brief History History of AOV - Mar. 2013: Personal discussion between Asian participants in EVGA meeting (Finland) - Sep. 2013: Agreement on AOV establishment between Asian and Oceanian participants for IAG Scientific Assembly (Potsdam) - Sep. 2013: Establishment received at IVS Directing Board - Mar. 2014: AOV establishment meeting at IVS General Meeting (Shanghai) - Sep. 2014: TOR established - Oct. 2014: Election of Chair and Secretary - Feb. 2015: 6 regional sessions for AOV in 2015 planned - Mar. 2015: 1st AOV sessions (AOV001)

9 AOV and GSI GSI before AOV - Three regional telescopes of GSI beside Tsukuba and Ishioka - JADE: Japanese Domestic Sessions since Scheduled, Correlated, and Analyzed by GSI From April Stop operation of three telescopes - No regular JADE sessions - Tsukuba and Ishioka observes all AOV sessions in Scheduling and Correlation for two AOV sessions in 2015
