2 Stargazing LIVE pm Monday 12 th February 2018 During the evening, there will be a range of activities suitable for all ages. No prior knowledge of astronomy or physics is required to enjoy any of the talks or activities listed below! Head to the (HA on campus maps above Hillside café) for registration. ACTIVITIES AVALIABLE ANYTIME Within the University Hall there will be 3 zones full of interactive stands. These are Physics, Astrophysics and Craft zones. The Physics and Astrophysics zones will have a researcher from our department available to talk about their research and show hands on demos of physics concepts. The Craft zone is aimed at younger visitors and will give them a chance to get hands on with some space related craft activities. Physics Zone - See yourself in Infrared with our thermal camera - Control computers using playdough - Medical Physics activities Astrophysics Zone - Astrophysics simulations - Explore Nuclear Astrophysics - Watch Cosmic Kingdom videos - Try Guess the Gas Craft Zone - Crafts space related colouring, building and word searches - Stellar Evolution quiz Widening Participation from the how to become a scientist

3 Telescope Site Astrophysics department, Physoc Society and the Guildford Astronomical Society will be on hand to help you observe the night sky (if it is clear). This will include: - Guided constellation tours - Telescopes pointed at different astronomical objects such as: planets, stellar clusters, galaxies and nebulae. Refreshments These will be available to purchase from food vans outside the Library. SCHEDULED ACTIVITIES Planetarium Shows In the (HA) Show Times 18: The inflatable planetarium will be running a 20 min show. As the planetarium has a capacity of 30 people, booking will be made online before the event and there may not be any tickets left by the night Each planetarium show will start promptly and late comers will not be admitted to avoid spoiling the experience for the audience. Entry to the planetarium will take place 5 minutes before the scheduled start time. Photography is permitted. Please note that photography and videos will be taken during the evening. By attending the event, you consent for such material to be broadcast by the BBC or used by the University to advertise future public events. The organisers reserve the right to refuse admission to the event without reason.
