We have invited top experts from around the country who will focus on important topics spanning big-picture updates on pieces of the laminitis puzzle. The topics include metabolic-related problems, translational medicine, stem cells, mechanical considerations in managing chronic laminitis and the dilemmas farriers and veterinarians face every day treating these challenging patients. You will learn, question and interact with all the faculty and guests so the subject matter presented will only be a "slice" of the excitement happening at this cutting-edge seminar. This is the latest information on laminitis coming to the West Coast - diagnostic techniques, prevention, treatment, pain management, case studies and much more - for veterinarians, farriers, owners, caretakers and anyone with a "love of the horse." We recognize that without dedicated owners, trainers and caregivers, many horses suffering from laminitis would never have the benefit of exceptional health care. So, this year, as part of the Laminitis West Seminar, there will be a special "client day program." This is our way of encouraging a better understanding of the disease and the importance of a steadfast partnership amid horse owners, veterinarians, farriers and others, to benefit our equine friends. He died in 2008 from severe laminitis in both front feet. I am honored to have his image included in this program since I know that this conference will help uncover new and innovative approaches to finding more cures for this terrible disease.
